Hello,

Over on the xdevs.com page where they break down the features of the z390 dark they have a photo that looks like a prototype board. I was curious if anyone knew what the yellow wire jumper does? Also the two different types of thermal paste on the cpu bracket?

There are also four chips that have "speedy lube" colored marks on them. One on the VR controller, doubler, and Ram controller (included in photo) Those three have purple marks. This one near the ram has a red one... What is it?

Somebody was paying attention. Yellow jumper was some test during development. :)
Thermal paste is irrelevant, as for initial functionality tests CPU is not even overclocked. This was one of the first boards for R&D team to work on.

Colored marks on chipies means that chipie was programmed with some firmware. Different color = different firmware. Just means to identify what board has what when it came from factory with naked eye, instead of connecting development programmers to read the version, etc.

What other changes can you spot? :P
