So I was trying to manually set a per-core OC on my 10920X on an X299 Micro (131-SX-E295-KR) running the latest BIOS 1.23 - and there's something REALLY WRONG with these boards...

So OK, not only did EVGA decide to label stuff Core 1 through Core 12 despite Intel, HWinfo, HWMonitor, and like literelaly everyone else using the nomenclature of "first core = Core 0" fine, whatever, I just have to "add 1" to modify the correct core, right? Annoying they broke with convention but shouldn't be that hard to work around, right? You'd think that...

So Intel Turbo Boost 3 reports that (their numbering) core 2 and core 10 are my best 2 cores.

Fine, I go into UEFI and to test, I set everything to a stock / safe 3.5Ghz, and then bumped core 10 (what EVGA calls Core 11) to 5.0 and added a little voltage (not bad, nice and low at 1.275V and 77C under max load). Cool. I can deal with this stupid numbering thing. So I go to work on Core 2 (what EVGA calls Core 3). I set that to 5.0 and the same voltage using the BIOS.

I boot into windows and run some Cinebench R20 and Prime95 (no AVX) to validate and huh, that's odd, I know I set Core 2 (EVGA's Core 3)... but it's showing ACTUAL INTEL CORE THREE as the one at 5.0??

So I'm curious, and I fire up E-LEET and what the actual... it's showing "Core 4" (EVGA nomenclature) as the one I set at 5.0?!?

I booted back into BIOS, double checked, yep, I did correctly set Core 2 (EVGA 3) not Core 3 (EVGA 4), so lemme get this straight, SOME of them are mis-named / mis-mapped, but not all? HOW DO YOU GET THIS SO WRONG EVGA?  I'm going to test each one individually and report what it's set in BIOS vs what it shows up in actuality and update this thread, but this is really frustrating. Please fix this ASAP (in addition to the mess of OC BOT not recognizing 109?0X chips as being overclockable lol)...

OK this get's funnier / worse.

Set (Intel) Core 0 (EVGA "Core 1") to 5.0 after resetting everything else back to stock 3.5... OK, so nope. That shows up as "1" not 0, oookay... GREAT. It's inconsistent. Tested all of them, here's where it gets really strange:

    BIOS  HWinfo  Intel Turbo Boost
    1       1       0
    2       2       1
    3       3       2
    4       4       3
    5       5       4
    6       6       5
    7       0???    6
    8       7       7
    9       8       8
    10      9       9
    11     10      10
    12     11      11

So the first 6 cores are "correct" in that Core 1 (EVGA) = Core 0 (actual / Intel). Then we get to EVGA's Core 7, which shows up as core 0, yet in Intel's util as Core 6. Then back to the "normal" (if confusing) pattern of EVGA = Intel + 1 numbering wise. So great, I don't even KNOW WHICH CORE I AM ACTUALLY MESSING WITH for 1 or 6, and heck not sure I trust the rest either? This is beyond frustrating EVGA, please please please fix it with a new BIOS...

Your mobo's latest BIOS (1.23) Updates Management Engine Firmware to 11.12.0.1622..But go to Intel Downloads and get the latest there.

Might wanna grab the Intel Driver & Support Assistant and run that too and see if any Intel drivers need updated.

There's also the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility you might wanna check out too..It's a nice utility, I think you might like it..Scrap E-LEET.

Just a few things here..Good luck.

And yeah, that board should have a BIOS update..Stay tuned.

Thanks Bob. I saw the other thread re bios (to fix the 10920x OC robot).  I'm already on 1.23 (installed it using a 7820X before swapping CPUs). Latest Intel ME AFAIK (downloaded it from EVGA yesterday afternoon) but will compare versions, and try out Intel DSA, thanks for the idea!  I'm very familiar with XTU, it's a great program. E-LEET is basically good for... changing the audio LED color? LOL.

OK according to Intel CSME I'm on 11.12.0.1622 (odd because in Control Panel the Management Engine Components version looks totally different, 1932.12.0.1298). I'm going to try out their "Performance Maximizer for Intel Core X-series Processors" out of pure curiosity (I'm sure it will not be a very aggressive OC but maybe can help with voltages and identifying best cores) until EVGA can fix this identification thing, I don't trust using the UEFI interface... I'm not going for any crazy voltages or high OC (was hoping to get my best 2 cores around 5.1 and next 2 maybe 4.8-4.9 and everything else low like 4.5-4.6 for heat sake) but still.
