Hello all,
Recently just upgraded my build to a 1080ti sc black evga card. Was recently running a PNY 1070ti. I decided to buy the card used on OfferUp and and tried it out. Card works fine on my desktop no issues whatsoever. I began to play ModernWarfare(2019) and noticed that in multiplayer games my FPS would exponentially decrease to zero or occasionally black screen and keep the game audio playing. I figured this was not enough power to my card as i was running a 650W PSU. I upgraded my PSU to a 850W and tried again. Noticed the same thing, but also noticed this never happened in the Warzone game mode. Uninstalled drivers and reinstalled, uninstalled windows and reinstalled. Currently experiencing the same issues with the game and cant figure out what the deal is with the card. Compatibility issue or bad card? Never had this problem with a 1070ti with the exact same components: i7 7700k, 650W PSU, same SSD and HDD, and so on. Any ideas on what i should try or conclude based on this? Thanks!

Hello thank you for the response! I am using windows 10 and have clean slated my drivers for nvidia geforce experience and reinstalled windows 10 aswell. CPU is a 7700k intel chip, runs around 70C for gaming. GPU runs around 74C i crack my window open next to my pc and shut my door so that all the air in the room gets vented outside. I have mainly been noticing the issues i explained in my first post, on ModernWarfare(2019) multiplayer only. I am using the Precision X1 for OC software, and i am not very familiar with it so i have everything set to the default specs. Hopefully this is enough information to keep rolling with.

If it only occurs in one game then it's game/driver issue specific to your hardware config.

I just tested another game, Escape From Tarkov, this game did not have any problems off the bat, but sometime mid game after an hour or so i had the same problem as initially mentioned with my frames slowly and exponentially decreasing. I immidiately restarted my game and opened it back up without opening precision X1 this time and continued to play normally for the remainder of my time on the game, a few hours or so. Im wondering if i am doing something wrong with my OC software at this point because i dont believe the card i purchased is bad, but i have the same problem across multiple games now.

Frames slowly and exponentially decreasing in multiple games would lead me to check my cpu temps while I'm playing.

Time to test the card in another known good working pc to see if the issue follows the card to another computer. If the issue does follow the card to another pc the card has a problem.

Okay that sounds good, any other tests you would recommend i could try in the downtime while i try to grab a friends pc for a day to use?

Try multiple graphics drivers, make sure your gpu isn't getting too hot, try reseating the card to your motherboard.

This reads like your GPU is thermally throttling or tripping.  What would be important to know is your GPU temps and clocks clocks right as this is is happening. I think with a used GPU the first thing, since you're comfortable doing TIM, is to replace the TIM on the GPU and inspect the thermal pads on the memory and PWM.

Tried two games, modernwarfare 2019 on my hardive, EscapeFromTarkov on my Ssd. Both have experienced the same problems i initially stated. I play on blizzard for MW and BSG for escapefromtarkov

Are you saying both of y'all's cards produced the same error in modern warfare, but worked fine up until that point?

How about an update on your GPU temps under load?

Yes both of our cards would play the game fine up until we used the card i purchased, i am not Its a card issue though because i have heard modern warfare has been reading this error for a lot of people. We also did not test the card on a lot of other games, we only benchmarked it, played MW, and rust and he never experienced an issue like mine except for MW

Oh, so only your card produced the error, and his card didn't? If that is the case then your card has a problem.

Too clarify, you have stability issues with your GPU on several games. Your friend does not and only has similar issues on one title which you say is known for errors. If that is the case, given your descriptions of what you have done, then your GPU is defective. I'd still change the TIM and check the thermal pads. If that does nothing to resolve the issues, RMA the GPU.

Yes that is correct, i am currently trying to RMA since the gpu is under warranty, i have never had to RMA anything before so i am just curious if EVGA is good about doing these and do they typically ship you a new card?

A few years back, if your GPU was less than 30 days old, you *might get a new GPU and that was much closer to the release date. At this point they are starting to replace 1080 Ti's that fail with a RTX 2080 as they stopped making new 1080 Ti's quite some time ago.
I am not saying they will do that. I can say pretty much for certain that your RMA will not be a new 1080 Ti. It will be refurbished.
    Too clarify my mess:
You will not get a new 1080 Ti. If you get a 1080 Ti in return for your RMA, it will be refurbished.
Or, if they do not have any 1080 Tis for RMA, they will replace it with a RTX 2080.
EVGA is pretty good about working with folks. They may want to charge you a small fee for the damage on the card. I don't know. You'll need chew on their ear and find out what you can. They are really nice over the phone.
