Hi everyone,
I just wanted to check with the forum before sending my mobo RMA :

I was gaming and all of sudden, my PC shutdown, immediately restarted itself, seems fine I even went on my desktop, and then shutdown for good. After this shutdown, I never saw it booting again.

Now, the mobo start, but immediately shutdown after 1 sec, and I hear the click of the PSU. And it does that in loop, can't boot anymore, and it's really quick, cannot see any error number or which leds are faulty, it's too quick.

I'm an IT technician since 15 years, not saying that to show off, but I kind of know what I' talking about :)

I tried everything I could which means : I changed my PSU, I had a new one for my second PC, did not change anything, I tried to start the PC in bare mode configuration, with just the PSU and the CPU power, same thing, without the memory same thing, my CPU was working fine so... I doubt it. I can't even see a number to track what's wrong, I never ever had any problem with this computer.  I did not change anything. My temperatures were really low. 25 idle, 60 fully charged, so it can't be a shutdown due to overheating. Of course I tried to switch BIOS, reset CMOS, and all that, but nothing is happening. It's just stuck here. I don't see any damage, or burnt capacitor, all seems fine physically.

I did not try to remove my graphic card since I'm in a custom watercooled loop, so before doing that, I just want to make sure... but same, this card was running like a charm, never had a leak or anything like that since it was built a few months ago.

You can actually see the whole build here :

Spec :
Evga Z390 Dark
i9 9900K
2x16gb G.SKill Sniper X 3600
Evga 1080 Ti 11Gb
Corsair AX 860 Also tested with a brand new focus  GX 650 (they both work in standalone tested with a paper clip, and they stay on)

I can make a video of it, but you'll just see nothing, it start, then shutdown 1 sec after, sometimes 2sec, but that's it.

Any idea would be appreciated before I send it back to evga.

Try disabling the pci-e slot the card is currently in by flipping the dip switches on the board to disable the slot. If that doesn't help I would recommend taking the card out of the system for testing.

Didn't know you could do that, I'll try, thank you :) Since you here, I saw somewhere you could flash the bios without the CPU ; using the usb on the mobo, I guess I could do that to take to make sure it's not my CPU ? But I never did it

Details on how to flash the bios without the cpu installed is detailed in the online manual on pages 143 & 144... https://www.evga.com/support/manuals/files/131-CS-E399.pdf

I don't see how that will tell you if you have a defective cpu or not though.

oh yeah, I wasn't picturing the process like that, I just read the pages, and you are right, that will not help for the CPU, but I could try to see if the mobo shutdown itself I guess.

I disabled the PCIe, it's working since my graphic card doesn't light up, but unfortunately, I got the same problem. Thing is, I do not have a CPU to test, I do have another graphic card tho, actually I could just try with the integrated graphic card. But the CPU would be the last logic thing to test, I never did a RMA with Evga so I don't know what it's gonna be next

So, this morning, I decided to give another try before I tear the whole thing down, well... the computer started... There is actually nothing plugged, exactly like yesterday, only one stick of memory, pcie on, and my graphic card. (atx and cpu power only)
I got the A6 code which mean I'm in a bios (I have no display connected, my pump is not even plugged so I can't really test it, but at least it's starting. I will plug the pump only and let it run to see what is happening

I don't know what the hell happened, I did not touch anything during the night, any idea or experience like that ?

Never seen that in my whole life. I stress tested the computer for 5 hours now, and not a single shutdown or anything, everything is plugged has before, temperatures are good, no error on OCCT with all 5 tests. Not a single error on the memory also. I do not understand. Maybe I woke up and fixed it while I was sleeping ? ahah, really weird.
