Doom Eternal cracked on launch day due to Bethesda' oversight

Doom Eternal launched on Steam and Bethesda's own launcher with Denuvo DRM built-in to discourage piracy. Unfortunately for Bethesda, Doom Eternal had a DRM-free .exe left amongst the files of the version released on its in-house launcher.

Denuvo has been the number one choice of DRM for major publishers for quite some time now. Occasionally though, a studio will screw up its implementation and pave the way for swift piracy despite intentions to protect at least the first week of sale.

A cracked version of Doom Eternal is undoubtedly already out there in the wild.

This actually isn't the first time this has happened to a game on the Bethesda launcher—Rage 2 also launched with a DRM-free .exe last year.

    DRM is such a waste of time and money

    ^ This. It doesn't stop pirates. It just screws up normal people who are willing to pay for the software.
