Hello Folks,
First of all, I own several EVGA products: GTX 1070 SC, 2-1080 TI's, 700 Watt EVGA PS, 500 Watt EVGA PS, and other items. I had to RMA one of my 1080 TI's; the refurbished 1080 TI that I received would overheat and cause games to crash. I used EVGA Precision X1 to adjust the fan profile, but random crashing during games is still a problem. I swapped out the RMA replacement with my good 1080 TI, and my system works great.

Has anyone else had defective RMA replacements?

Sounds like you need to send it back again.

    Hello Folks,
Just a follow-up on my 2nd RMA experience. I finally RMAed the "refurbished 1080 TI" that was sent to me via EVGA's RMA program.
    The Good:
    - I asked them to do extensive bench testing of the refurbished card they would send me, because I have no faith in their QA system. They did indeed do this.
    - I asked them to remove the heatsink and reapply thermal compound and replace all thermal pads. They did this and my temps under all benchmarks and stress tests never exceed 71 degrees C!

    - I mailed my 1080 TI on a Wednesday (via 4-day UPS). They received it on the following Monday and quickly sent out a replacement; I got it on Friday. The process only took 1.5 weeks, which is impressive!
    - The refurbished card runs cool.
    The Bad:
    - When you get a bad product as an RMA, it really is a frustrating experience.
    - I wanted a new card, but EVGA would not do that.

My latest RMA experience is not going so well.  Taking a lot longer than normal for them to ship the replacement back to me.  Was in stock when I started the RMA process.

    Update!

This will be the 3rd RMA for a 1080TI. I got my second RMA last month, but had not had time to game. I finally started testing it, and its also crashing and freezing in games in a brand new system...
I've asked these guys to quit sending me defective recertified cards, but that is all that you can expect from their RMA department. They send you defective cards that someone "refurbished."

Most importantly, they do not care! They have a serious quality control problem. The name EVGA means nothing anymore. I got some voicemail from some manager named Jason in the RMA department, and
I have reached out to Director of Technical Marketing Joe Darwin.

I'm really frustrated with their RMA program. I've been a loyal EGVA customer for years, but I cannot recommend their products nor will I do business with them again.

Sorry to hear of your issues.  Most of my RMA experiences with EVGA have been good.  So far I've only had an issue with one replacement card and I've had several RMAs over the years for different EVGA graphics cards in different computers.
