Im thinking about changing my i9 9900ks ( even though it's stable at 5.6) for an i9 9900xe.
Obviously I'll have to change the mobo .
Any views on this or suggestions?

I know your talking about a 10980xe and not 9900xe but that being said you get a lot more cores to play with, totally different benchmarking scores and the higher core count cpu's will obviously do more. You won't get it to overclock near as high as your 9900ks and the x299 series are also harder to get the higher frequency ram as stable it seems to me. You might get 5.0 or 5.1ghz on all cores synced for benchmarking but for long time stable probably more like 4.8ghz or so. What you lose in overclock ability you kind of gain in core count. Overall my 7980xe delidded with a copper lid and liquid metal did better than my 10980xe with soldered lid.

If you care about 3dmark benchmark scores you want to run the cpu with the most cores.

As I said , it's stable .
BTW that's 5.6 @ 4.55v and 4.7 cache .
I normally run it at 5.5 for evetything but just thought I would try 5.6 .
Also tried 5.7 but it kept saying , stop it or i'll crash...and that's what it did.

Need 9980XE or 10980XE  with more cores and Thread, but storm moving in 14 f tonight may do some time spy extreme tonight,but extra cores and threads work   better on those benchmarks for sure,but some I 9 9900ks will run at 5.6. More cores and threads on wish list.

Yeah no doubt time spy extreme will task that 5.6ghz. Those cooler outside temps and lower humidity this time of year always helps as well while playing around.

Where is the 4.55 volts you claimed? I wouldn't have said anything was unlikely if it weren't for the supposed claim of 4.55 volts.

BTW that's 5.6 @ 4.55v

CPU "stable" (enough) at 5.5 GHz for CPU loads.  CPU "stable" (barely) at 5.6 GHz when idling and running GPU loads.  Cool, cool.  I didn't see a CPU test at 5.6 GHz.  And I didn't see 4.55v CPU core voltage.  It's fine man.  Way better than I am able to do (because I don't feel the urge to spend the money).  But no need to mislead people.

First, I would have to be in an alternate universe where I wanted to own an i9; or any huge needless expense.
 
... So, anyway.  Where is this thread headed?  Did you get the answer you were looking for?

Last AMD product I owned was 19 years ago.  I think you missed the part about the huge needless expense.

4.55 is nothing for a KS .
It's a binned chip and runs pretty cool.
I only run it at that speed for Graphics benches with low strain on CPU ( For  Cinebench and CPU intensive stuff , I take it down to 5.5 @ 1.435v or even 5.4 ) and proving the doubters here wrong.

I don’t think you understand the point the other guy is trying to make. 4.55 VCORE is insane. Like blow up your CPU and set your house on fire insane. Are you sure you don’t mean 4.55 something else?

It was a typo guys.
Had me worried then and had to take another look when someone mentioned my hose  burning down .
No need to run any more benchmarks then .
 

Typos are no prob man just seen the thread getting heated and thought maybe there was a misunderstanding.

Don’t take that as me saying I want to see your house burned down haha. Just something to get the point across. Don’t stop benching either man, it’s a simple mistake no need to be drastic or anything haha. Keep benching and getting those scores up.
