I'd get the kingpin. Air coolers are more reliable.

I'd get the 1080 Ti FTW3 Hybrid ... mine are running very well ... cooler is faster.. check with EVGA about the amount of Warranty days left on it
 
1080 Ti Kingpin ... has many features ... but, mostly aimed at OCing & benchmark runs ... other cards 2080Ti are now much faster
 
The down side of the Hybrids is if the hybrid unit stops working - if your out of warranty, you'll have to get creative ... (near) impossible to find the hybrid kit for those cards & aftermarket coolers become the required solution ... so if the seller of the card bought a spare hybrid & the warranty is almost done - buy the spare hybrid also.

Did you try to overclock the card? Can you play stable att 2088mhz or 2100mhz? How much can you increase the memory? 700-800?

And what your temps on game?

Folding is More intensive than gaming & does not tolerate Any errors ... Gaming is more forgiving
 
So my max OC Folding in a Cold room - both cards in one PC with another card--- That is 3 GPUs with no gaps or the temps would be better
                 [was also testing a Titan X Pascal - stockair cooler at the same time before it goes into Nibbler w/ water block]
 
Nvidia Boost 3.0 --> sure does love a Cold GPU

      - room @ 8 C - Cards are fully loaded 80-90% Folding - for weeks at 30 C & 31 C 
      - that's a temperature Delta of 22-23C above ambient (room) temp
 
     - when I checked again --> room @ 13C, GPU fan running near Max = 35 C ---> still 23C above ambient
 
I think these specific cards are "Golden" - silicon lottery winners
