So I bought the 1000T2 on 11/28, and my system kept shutting down. Swapped the psu back out to my 5 year old 1300G2 and it is working fine. Does that mean it was entering Over voltage protection mode? If so, I guess I need to submit an RMA?

That’s very minimal details to get into figuring out issues.

Did you use the same cables and just swapped the psu itself, did you change cables, was the shutdowns only under load or just at idle as well.

Could you provide more detail to see if anyone can help figure out if the power supply is the main issue and needs to be replaced?

Ah, ok. Well, 3900x, aorus x570 master rtx 2080ti, 32gb corsair dominator plat rgb, 2 sdds, 2 nvmes, 9 120mm corsair hd fans and 1 140mm, corsair gpu, cpu block and pump and 2 commander pros. Same cables stayed in the case, the modded ones from evga, removed the 1000t2, and gamed for 3 hours with the 1300g2. System would power down playing pubg. total power draw was never more than 550 watts, usual 490. So yes, leads me to believe its the psu.

Btw, i tried with the eco switch off and same result. This psu has the eco switch inside the case, isn't that a really old model? I thought the newer ones had the eco switch on back. Did i get sold an old model for over $300? Bought directly from evga

The product page shows the switch on the internal bank next to the cables, so no, I wouldn’t assume that at all. I think you may be confusing a different model completely.

Try using the cables that came with the power supply, if you can, just in case there is an issue with the sleeved cables. If one of the connectors isn’t seating just right it may be causing the shut downs as the monitoring cables may not detect one of the currents properly. This will at least rule out an issue with the cables since they are a common between both power supplies.

EVGA does not use the same OEM for all of their power supplies, features will vary. You will definitely want to avoid recycling cables, as one might be made by Seasonic and the other by Super Flower.

The individually sleeved cables are supposed to be compatible with the G2 power supply, and the T2.  I would still change them out, as I have had a cable come out of the housing with the individually sleeved cables which caused me issues in the past.  It makes it very easy to verify if the cables are the issue.

I'm using the exact same cables on the 1300G2 dude. Same cables, only difference is the power supply, bar none, stock cables are ugly as crap. They are compatible, as per evga.

You’ve already come to your own conclusion, so our suggestions won’t change your mind. Just go through the RMA, dude.

Interesting, yep... similar platforms but they switch up a few things like change a wiring configuration or put the ECO switch on the back, next to the modular connections.

According to Oklahoma Wolf on JonnyGuru, this looks similar to the G2 line-up, but there are some differences... like the the length of the cables are shorter on the T2.

I would make sure to replace every single cable before declaring it is defective.

I found a broken sata power connector and now all seems fine now. So maybe it was doing it's job and turning off with OVP.

I am not going to lie, I actually laughed when I read this. That is why it was suggested to try the new cables to start with instead of assuming the old cables were fine. It's an easy fix and doesn't waste a couple of weeks to go through the RMA process.

    Glad your PSU is working.

The thing is, it was not broken previously. It was in a phanteks evolv x case with the doors, and they apparently pinched it. When I installed the 1300 G2 back in, I failed to notice that the hard drive was not recognized in windows. Installed the 1000T2 back in and it wasn't there, so I did some digging as to why and the connector was bent out of the ssd, plastic cracked, pic is on my phone, forgot how to upload.
