Looking at WD's BLACK SN750 NVMe & Samsungs's 970 PRO NVMe M.2 SSD's. My first USB Flash was a SanDisk and had that things years without issues.  WD's Black MVMe's for the price look damn good vs Samsung's prices, feedback?

    WD make very good mechanical HDD, particularly the Black / Caviar Black drives, however imo Samsung currently have the better NVMe drives. Also you're looking at the Samsung Pro model which is the more expensive; the EVO is also very good and significantly cheaper, there's also an EVO Plus model (all 1TB models I linked to). That WD NVMe you linked to is a good price at $129.99 though.
     
    Another option (which I use) is having a smaller 500GB NVMe drive for the primary o/s drive, and having media files and some games you don't use as often installed on a separate 2.5" SSD which are much cheaper (or a huge mechanical HDD if you have several TB of media files).

    I like Samsung but at the prices listed it's hard to find extra value in the Samsung drive over the WD drive unless you are doing serious data intensive work. I think I would part with the $129 and go WD and then spend the savings on a nice mechanical drive to give storage space for things I don't use often and maybe an external backup drive.

    Have a look at the HP EX950 and EX920, you can get an EX950 2TB for $230 and it is just about as fast as the Samsung drives.

    Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB m.2 NVMe $199
    Older 970 EVO 1TB m.2 NVMe $170
    WD_BLACK SN750 1TB m.2 NVMe $129
     
    That WD NVMe SSD looks good at that price point. You give up some speed over the 970 EVO Plus but not like you would notice it playing games or running most programs.
