I previously had the MSI Ace and was able to get my 9900kf up to 5.2 with a ring ratio of 4.9 with around 1.38-1.40 volts. On the godlike I cannot even get it stable at 5.0 at 1.550 volts. I have a 1200 corsair so plenty of power. I also was able to use the xmp setting 1 on the Ace and I have to use setting 2 on this board. When I try to run setting 1 it will not boot at all. When I ran cinabench r20 the max volts i hit was 1.375 which tells me there is some setting somewhere that is limiting my voltage. i set it to override also as I always do. Am I missing something? I think if i can figure out what is limiting my voltage I will be able to get back to 5.2. please help and thank you!

You should make sure the mobo BIOS is up-to-date.

Clear CMOS or "Load Optimized Defaults" in the BIOS and begin again.

I would stay away from X.M.P. profiles and set things manually.

I did just that many times but the issue is I am unable to get the voltage past 1.375 no matter what manual voltage I set it to.

Don't know what to tell you except what my settings are..Different Mobo/BIOS/CPU settings can vary greatly across platforms/manufacturers, as you know..But many of the BIOS settings are "different but the same" across platforms/manufacturers.

I use Manual Overclock Tuner w/BCLK locked at 100, not XMP..Sync All Cores @ 52..Use Adaptive Vcore..1.375 Turbo Mode CPU Core Voltage..0.01 IA AC and DC Load Line..Level 5 CPU Load-line Calibration, which applies more Vcore under load than Level 4 and lower and less Vcore than Level 6 and higher..

ANY voltage changes I make to Turbo Mode CPU Core Voltage and CPU Load-line Calibration respond accordingly with more or less Vcore, as is supposed to.

I can use Offset Mode (+0.90v) for CPU Core Voltage and ANY voltage offset changes made respond accordingly with more or less Vcore, as is supposed to.

My CPU needs 1.390 Vcore to be stable @ 5.2GHz.

    C-States and EIST (SpeedStep) enabled.

Power Saving plan in Win10 Power Options.

You'll probably get better help though over at the MSI Forums if you continue to have problems with it.

    Good luck, man.

Are you sure to manually override all your turbo duration power settings and board power to the max ?  Its got to be something in the power limit defaults in the bios.  Intel's confusing stock TDP is whats causing Z390 motherboard settings to be all over the place.  Last gen (z370) asus defaulted to max power limit settings across the board.  They caught a lot of flack for this, so this gen they are strictly following the ridiculous 95w tdp for the 9900k.  I'm not sure where MSI stands in this confusion but I know I had to change about 9 settings to maximum on the Asus board to be able to not have my voltage, power or turbo duration throttle itself.

that is a tremendous voltage for 5ghz on a 9900k.  I would imagine 1.5v is going to cause your cpu to temp throttle the second it ramps up.  Ive got 3 9900k's at my house and they vary from 1.22v to 1.26v to be stable with prime 95 v26.6 at 5ghz (important to note that all boards behave differently with the actual voltage setting, even with identical manual vcore and llc settings).  My 9900ks is able to run at 5.1ghz with optimized default voltage.  I did not have to manually override anything except turbo duration limit to have it stay at this frequency indefinitely.

I just went and double checked and here is a list of the settings I change (in relation to power management) first to override to board (asus).
First things first, always disable the so called "multi-core enhancement".  this is called different things on different boards, but never select any so called optimized "gamer" or "overclock" or "override" optimized settings.  Just start at optimized default and manually override all the power limits.
    1 - AVX offset - i set to zero
2 - cpu current capability - set it to max
3 - long duration package power limit - set it to max
4 - package power time window - set it to max
5 - short duration package power limit - set it to max
6 - cpu core/cache current limit max - set it to max
7 - minimum cpu cache ratio - I always start this at intel's default then work my way up.  for 9900k its 43
8 - maximum cpu cache ratio - Intel default at 43, then work my way up after I set my stable overclock
9 - cpu core/cache voltage - always select manual mode.  I never use adaptive mode because different brand boards have different definitions of what adaptive mode means.  just override it and choose manual.

I gave up on the godlike and switched back to the Ace. Currently running a stable 5.2 and pushed it to 5.3 stable for awhile. It was a bad motherboard thanks for everyone's help. Now time to overclock the ram and as I have 4 sticks of 4133 I think its going to be a challenge.
