Smart buyer, informative/helpful forum member, lay the smacketh to jabronies and top of all, a hardcore gamer to the core = well deserved BR. Like the set up.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Make the nonbelievers believe there is a better option out there than just Intel and Nvidia 😆

You have me wanting to look at getting a Sapphire RX 5700XT Nitro+ and a Ryzen 5 3600X. Out of curiosity, I jumped into 3DMark results to see what people are getting with that kind of set-up and I ran across this gem:

Looks like that guy figured out a way to force crossfire or the System Info is just wayyy off.

LOL well.....I just popped in a Ryzen 5 3600 that I picked up locally on Offer UP for cheap. I have the RX 5700 XT in as well and currently settling in on what is going to be the daily driver speeds. Currently I have the 3600 at 4.2Ghz with 1.3v all core boost and the 5700 XT is at 2100Mhz core, 15.5Ghz memory using only the 50% TDP power play table mod. I'll more than likely just leave it at that and just continue to enjoy VR.

Though if I'm being honest I don't see really any performance difference that I can tell from the vanilla 5700 to the 5700 XT. I'm sure it'll benchmark higher than the vanilla but man what a screaming good deal the vanilla 5700 is if you just tinker with it for a few mins. Really the only difference between the vanilla and XT models is 256 steam processors once you unlock the vanilla card. They both boost the roughly the same, have the same memory speed and configuration, same number of ROPs....etc. If I didn't find this XT for $369 at Amazon I would have just kept with a vanilla model and not been really missing out on anything.

As for that benchmark, I'm sure there is a driver level hack to manually enable crossfire on the 5700 series cards but I haven't really looked since for me the point is doubly moot. 1) The board I'm running on only has 1 PCI-E slot (Mini iTX) and 2) multi GPU scaling is garbage as I'm sure you know, in today's landscape. Developers just don't want to waste the time coding for something the vast majority of people do not use.

Nice!

I was reading the Guru3D reviews for the Ryzen 3000 series stuff and found that they were actually suggesting not to do an all core overclock for gaming, because the boost clock will allow it to hit a higher frequency than the all core clock. Have you noticed much of a difference between a OC and defaults in games?

Yeah, the 5700 is a sweet deal for those on a tight budget. I returned my 5700XT mostly because of aesthetics and i'm also a Sapphire fan boy when it comes down to the AMD video cards, so that's why I would sill get the Nitro+ ... and the cooler on that thing is one of the best.

I've been flip flopping hard on what I want to do with my main set-up. Just recently picked up a i7 8086K and it is slower than my i7 9700K. Call of Duty: Mordern Warfare has been pegging my CPU at 100% usage on the 9700K. The 8086K is much smoother on that game, but all of my other games and benchmarks took a slight hit to performance...

What I was seeing on my 3600 was it was boosting on its own to about 3.95Ghz all core in games. The ”boost” clock is really only for single threads and even at that it only hits its max rated boost for a few seconds. Virtually all games these days use more than 1 thread and often times between 4-6 threads if available. Having said that however I can’t really tell a difference in the games I play on this rig (which are almost exclusively VR) they all feel just as smooth as with my 2600 as they do now with the 3600, much less 3.95Ghz to 4.2Ghz lol. It’s only when I fire up a benchmark that I can see the difference. Which then begs the question why did I bother with the 3600? Hmm, yeah I’ll get back to you on that one

LOL that's a good one. I'll have to try and remember that one when she inevitably finds the bank statement
