Windows Installation

• Download the correct .zip file below for your motherboard:        

         131-CS-E399-KR - EVGA Z390 Dark - v1.07
         123-CS-E397-KR - EVGA Z390 FTW - v1.08

• First go into your BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
• Close all open programs.
• Go into the folder where you unzipped this package and double-click update.bat
• Press Y to start the flash process
• DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE FLASH PROCESS
• After the flashing is finished, the system will automatically shut down. Then power on again and go into BIOS to setup.
• NOTE: If flash box immediately closes after flash attempt, the flash may need to be ran from a CMD prompt with administrator privileges or DOS version.

  
BIOS Installation

• Extract the contents of .zip file to USB flash drive (must be formatted as FAT32)
• Reboot the machine and go into the system BIOS
• From the BIOS, navigate to the Save & Exit tab and open "Select BIOS File."
• Select the .bin file you wish to flash.

Then I discovered through trial & error I could load any bus speed that ended in an odd number. So like 5033, 6073 oe\r 2933. Anything above 2400 that was even numbered like 2600 or 3000 I would have no screen display after exiting the bios. This is odd behavior but much close to XMP1 at 2933 15 -17-17-35.

Checked with the MB team.  The i7-8700 CPU does not support a 100 base memory ratio, such as 2600 or 3000.  Try using a 133 base ratio instead, as you've found success.

I dont want to speak too soon, I've been checking periodically since May when I completed this build for a newer BIOS that might allow me to unlock the potential of my memory that was branded as 3600mhz but would crash the system if I tweaked it beyond the default 2133mhz. I just noticed the new BIOS tonight and installed, and let the XMP profile take over and so far...success! Lets hope it stays. I've been enjoying my system and didn't want to have to deal with the downtime associated with RMAing memory I thought might be faulty. Hopefully now I wont have to. 
 
e: spoke too soon. It lasts a little longer than before but still, crashes after a few minutes. So disappointing. Its a 9700k not 8700 and seeing I can actually boot i dont think its the above mentioned incompatibility. Maybe I will have to RMA after all

have updated to the bios 1.08 did have xmp but no matter what i do with my royal trident 3200mhz cannot get it above 2133 just black screens untill i cmos reset hope thjis helps anyone having the same problem

You may need to adjust your vccio and vsa voltages to run 3200.

Question: I understand this update is helping you guys with your memory clock speeds, but has anyone here actually VERIFIED that the board will now run with 2x32gb sticks?  I have been a hard core ASUS user since the turn of the century or so but their current z390 boards are truly lacking in so many ways. I just cannot stay with them anymore.
EVGA has me SUPER interested and I have just ordered an i9-9900KS and would like to run it on this board, but the 32gb memory limitation would be a deal breaker! So if someone can actually verify for SURE that this board will run two 32gb sticks in dual channel I will order this board immediately. (Someone else did ask the question above but nobody answered him...)
Can anyone from EVGA or a z390 Dark user weigh in on this issue?
I am anxiously awaiting a response!

So this just appeared to destroy my computer. Followed instructions, ran the batch file. Everything was good in the command prompt. Then the computer shut down and never got back into windows. Just sat there with a black screen doing nothing. After like 2 minutes, turned it off and turned it back on with power switch. It beeps a bunch, but just sits there with black on the screen. Says 'Ab' for the code on the motherboard. Please help. Did this just cook my computer?
 
 Pushing the clear CMOS button did nothing.

Hey y'all, I have a quick question on flashing the BIOS for the Z390 Dark.
 
On the instructions it says to:

 But, I don't seem to have the option to: "Select BIOS File." Do I need to have my USB in a specific slot for it to show?
 
or Am I just missing it?

Click the Extras button at the top on the left.  You'll be able to select BIOS Update from there.

Given that there's no official statement I have from Intel, I can't really speak to whether this is a compatibility issue or not, but as a practical matter, the memory will not run at those speeds whether configured via XMP or manually.  Now, if you set XMP in the BIOS and then manually adjust the speeds to a base 133mhz speed before saving and restarting, that should work if the memory is capable of those speeds.

I confirm that it really works! Two modules CMK16GX4M1B3000C15 in dual mode (slot 2&4) would throw an error in Memtest and AIDA within 1-2 minutes from the start if XMP profile 15-17-17-35 is applied (no errors though except other things in slots 1&3 even at 3200Mhz 16-18-18). Setting XMP profile and adjusting speed to 2933 solved this particular problem: NO errors during memtest 100% coverage of each thread, nor AIDA have shown any error.

Are we likely to see any future updates? Still experiencing some strange issues with my machine, I think its the memory which according to the GSkill site, this board is on their QVL but the memory isn't on EVGAs QVL for the board. 

F4-3600C19Q-32GVRB is the memory I have. Here is a summary of the issues I have
 
Sometimes when I turn the computer on, all will light up but nothing on screen. No response from any inputs. Keyboard and mouse usually doesn't light up in this case. 
 
Something similar happens when the computer goes to sleep sometimes, it will not wake up and will enter this same state where the computer seems to be running but nothing on screen and no inputs received. Hard reboots always fix both issues. 
 
Computer has some lags and stutters upon boot mainly that should not be apparent on a system of this level. (m.2 drives, 32gb RAM, 9700k). The memory is billed as 3600mhz but have to leave it at automatic in the BIOS, which is 2133 because setting it any higher or using its built in XMP profile will cause the system to be unable to boot or will quickly crash before being able to do anything within windows. 

Are these AMI BIOS?
