    Congrats on your First Post

Why 32 GB RAM ?  16 GB is usually enough ... just saying if your on a budget [ how much RAM do you currently utilize ?]

RTX 2060 Super should be a nice upgrade ... probably draw less power than your older 680 GPU

What Monitor & resolution do you use ?

System RAM - I usually buy G.Skill - good brand & usually a better price

You may want to consider a New 500 - 512 SSD - some good sales that are budget friendly.  I like Samsung SSD

Thanks Cool for the reply and the suggestions. I wasn’t locked into the 32 GB upgrade, if it wouldn’t be that much of a benefit moving up to 32, I’d rather spend the money elsewhere, like on a SSD that you mentioned. It’s actually my 12 year olds machine, I’m just looking to help him upgrade it for Christmas and renew an old passion of mine that unfortunately was put on old when family life took over . He’s got 2 monitors, a Benq 144hz 1080p and a Specture 4K.

My .02 cents would be to skip the memory .

go for the Super 2060 or the Super 2070  if you can - although I didn't see the budget $$ you were thinking.

looks like I’ll be skipping the memory. I was looking to spend around $400 for the video card, but I can go some what over for something better. Is that super 2060 that you guys recommend out of the model choices on the site ?

Might be helpful to know your use and habits for the computer. that would help us know what might be the best targeted upgrade for you. Not seeing anything that really jumps out at me as a must have upgrade in those specs. There are some things that you might do though.

Going with a PCIe adapter card and M.2 NVME for a reaplcement for the Samsung 840. Maybe go with a Samsung 970 EVO or Pro 250GB as a replacement. It'll be a bump up in drive speed from SATA.

I also agree on the video card. It could use an upgrade. Not super important if you're just desktop use though. Depends upon what you do with the computer.

Good Point Brad, I should of included the use in my post. It’s used for gaming (Fortnite, PUBG and most of the newer games), Video / live streaming and some graphic design.

In the $400 range, it's hard to not recommend this video card:
    https://www.amazon.com/Sa...Graphics/dp/B07WC7683C

"Best overall GPU of 2019" according to Gamers Nexus. It's rare that it doesn't outperform the 2060 Super. It doesn't have dedicated hardware ray tracing cores like NVIDIA's RTX line, but since the 2060 Super is so cut down and poor at NVIDIA's RTX Ray Tracing anyway, it's not really a point of contention between the two products.

If you go that route, make sure to do a full windows install when moving from NVIDIA over to AMD. Uninstalling the previous drivers doesn't remove everything and some of the previous NVIDIA drivers will conflict with AMD's stuff, causing some odd things like random lock-ups.

The RTX 2070 Super is where AMD can no longer contend with NVIDIA. Here is a nice chart to see how all of the other GPU's stack up to each other:

Getting your hand on 32GB of DDR3 is going to be a bit expensive especially for a dead platform, like $150 new.  Though you might be able to pick some up on ebay for under $75.

Seeing that you have a modular CPU cooling kit, it might be interesting to pick up a GTX 1080 Hydrocopper used to plumb into that.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. As of now I think I’m leaning towards one of the 2060 super cards, now just to pick out of that bunch  I think I’m going to pass on upgrading the memory for now and maybe go with Brad’s suggestion of adding a PCIe adapter card and M.2 NVME for a replacement for the Samsung 840. Any suggestions on a good adapter card ? Research I’ve done so far seems like they are all pretty generic.

Hey Guys, got another question before I pull the trigger on the Video Card, what is your thoughts on going up to 2070 or even the 2080. Is the price increase worth it and if so what version would you go with. Any help would be greatly appreciated before the wife changes her mind lol

    This:  https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-2289-KR

Or a 2080S Hydrocopper, or a 2070S or 2080S with an aftermarket block.  You can get a basic 2070S for under $500 and put a block on it for $150 or less, then hook it up to your cooling kit.

Just get the 2070S Black and put a block on it. Make sure the block is material-compatible with your existing cooler - likely copper..  The 2070S Black has been under $500.

It happens often, but they go fast when they do. Not sure you would want a watercooling card that requires a custom watercooling loop though.

Here is a decent open box deal:

a 2080 & higher card  might be considered overkill if you are running a monitor at only 1080p resolutions........

Hey All, hope everyone had a great holiday. Well I’ve installed the new card today and I thought it went off without any issues until my son tried to play his games (Fortnite, Rocket league ). Unfortunately each game has frame rates that start off decently, but quickly plummet to single digits and eventually the game and the computer crash. Tried adjusting the settings to the lowest possible and still the same issues. Tried a clean install of the drivers and GeForce Experience and still the same issue. In the process of using DDH to uninstall all the drivers again and see what happens. Any suggestions would help out greatly !!!!!!

So the cooling and temps are fine, X1 or Afterburner work fine? I'd post a new thread in the 20/16 GPU forum for more troubleshooting help.

I had X1 installed, everything seemed good. Now I can’t even stay on the computer for more than 5 minutes and the video signal drops and my monitors got into sleep mode, but the computer and is still on and the video card is still on.
