Just wanted to ask, do other boards support blind BIOS update with fat32 usb drive and correct bin filename using specific port and holding reset down? I just feel lucky that I last minute decided to get Skylake X instead of planned Cascade Lake X because of availability reasons for EVGA x299 micro atx 2 that I used blind BIOS update function even to downgrade because I ran into not getting display to my screen with newest bios. Even latest BIOS shows DF error code after blind BIOS update?

The rampage v (had it for 5-6 years) had that bios usb port in the rear io. It was really convenient because i only had to have the psu connected. I always updated through there. It always worked and was really fast. This clearly is a feature evga needs to have down the road.

EVGATech_JoseC Hello if you have an EVGA X299 Motherboard and if you are getting Post Code 'df' with the new CPU's, please contact EVGA support and we can have a BIOS chip with the most up to date BIOS flashed onto it. That will help the board get up and running. If you own an EVGA X299 Micro2 motherboard (121-SX-E296-KR) a RMA will need to be set up as that particular board does not have a removable BIOS chip.
Our email would be support@evga.com or contact us via phone at 1.888.881.3842.
Make sure to have your motherboard registered to your EVGA account otherwise, you can register the motherboard here https://www.evga.com/support/register.asp
I'm on the latest 1.12 (I think), that is the most recent right? And shouldn't have the problem the OP had, correct?

If you plan on getting a new HEDT processor. I would suggest updating to 1.19 right away (if you have the dark version). Whatever board you have, make sure the bios version you have is the one that has the CLx compatibility :)

Updating to 1.19 as of writing. Snapping the 10900x right in and it’s showtime (hopefully).

Officially got past “dF” and now in bios! God this saga is finally over :).
Bios 1.19 does indeed fix the “dF” post code for newcomers!
Cheers !

HA! Yeah i was in no way expecting it cause ive never won anything, especially from evga for all the years ive been here. Actually, i won there first air cpu cooler but 50 other people did too. So it wasnt a real win like this. I started reading the x299 forum posts to see what i was going to encounter and i caught your thread just as you fixed your issue, so thanx again. See, you never know how much your bit of info can help others!

Evga sent me a bios chip with 1.19 installed.... Sadly when I attempted to open the little plastic door on the bios socket the whole thing broke loose with my fingernail light pressure. Hopefully I can get this RMAd but take it from me...... Be super careful if you need to open the BIOS hatch on these boards. The points connecting the socket to the PCB are very fragile.

Oh no.. Such bad luck. I hope it’ll be a quick RMA and with some luck you’ll have the new stuff before christmas.
This whole thing is so annoying, especially with what just happened to you.

yea. that's my son in the post above. needless to say he is very happy. aside from my BIOS frustrations I am kind of sad that I had ignored the x299 dark for so long. What an amazing motherboard. the BIOS is the best I have seen and the OC robot is wonderful. I love being able to switch off the unused PCI slots and enable "dark mode" and turn off LEDs..... I am looking at ordering another one for myself while they are only $350. I know the i9-10x series stuff is getting beat up in the reviews, but our chip is screaming at 5.135. I am totally impressed.

oc robot only. I can look and see what it set the vcore too though. the stress testing stayed under 60c with the EVGA 360 AIO so I really didn't mess with it much more.
