I've been monitoring etailers and ebay since last month and 10980XE appear to be nowhere in stock. Has anyone been able to get their hands on 10980XE so far?

I have a 10940X I'm testing and will probably flip my 7960X while the market is still there for them. I dunno why I bought it to be honest though :P

They don't ship to Canada. And everyone on reddit says they don't sell chips themselves, they dropship from other retailers..., which are always out of stock, so they just cancel orders, lol.

Any particular reason why you upgraded to a lower core count chip?

Intel paper launched most of these CPU's, they barely had enough to give reviewers. That is why all the reviewers didn't even get them in retail packaging. The 10980xe will be very difficult to get in 2019, I was told it was basically a paper launch over a month ago by my friend in the know. She literally has a perfect track record with these things.

Intel is really having manufacturing issues with these big dies, while intel's yields are surprisingly good they don't make much money selling 10980xe's for under $1000 as at 14nm they are huge. Intel was hoping to steal AMD Threadrippers headlines with the new lower prices without actually having them to sell. It honestly didn't work out as Threadripper 3 was better than expected with its price hike justified.

Well my initial thought was to see if temps are appreciably better since the 9 and 10 series are soldered where as my 7960 is not. So far they are better but not massively so. I am however able to reach 4.8Ghz on this chip with the same voltage needed for my 7960 to hit 4.6Ghz and with temps about 5C lower on average.

I don't really have a good reason as to why I bought it other than I saw it on newegg and picked it up though to be honest.

This feels like a 2011 3930K C2 shortage again, I was able to get mine in February 2012.

Well i got a 10900X the first 10mins they got online. I’m in canada so it’s either newegg/amazon or canada computers. Didn’t expect these cpus to be B/O since they’re pretty much obsolete day 1 for newcomers when compared to price/perf ratio of AMD’s counterparts. I still bought INTEL anyways because of the PCIE lanes. Need around 40 -_-.

Just FYI AMDs HEDT offerings (Threadripper) on X399 and TRX40 you can get more PCI-E lanes than what is currently offered on Intel X299.

All of the top HEDT CPUs from both Intel and AMD are selling faster than stock availability.

I wanted a new 3rd gen Threadripper so I gave up and managed to get a Ryzen 9 3950X which has 16 cores. That should be in my hands sometime this week.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Nice Rj, be sure to let us know you get on with that I’d be interested to hear how the new Ryzens do with 4 DIMMs.

I also contemplated going Ryzen in my main PC but already being on the X299 platform I opted for a 10940X for really no reason other than laziness of not wanting to tear down my whole rig and rebuild it.
