I thought this article was pretty interesting on how they have used EPIC's Unreal engine to help produce early pre-rendered shots  while live filming.....

https://www.techspot.com/news/82991-disney-uses-epic-unreal-engine-render-real-time.html

The Mandalorian set had LED video walls used to provide “in-camera composites.” The SFX team projected pre-rendered content like environments on the LED walls, which served as dynamic green screens of sorts.

“We got a tremendous percentage of shots that actually worked in-camera, just with the real-time renders in engine, that I didn’t think Epic was going to be capable of. For certain types of shots, depending on the focal length and shooting with anamorphic lensing, there’s a lot of times where it wasn’t just for interactive – we could see in camera, the lighting, the interactive light, the layout, the background, the horizon. We didn’t have to mash things together later.”

This not only helped in filming scenes, but it also helped the actors know what was around them — the horizon, for instance. It also provided interactive lighting, which Favreau describes as a “huge breakthrough.”

    I like the Unreal Engine.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

It's amazing to see the demo since the reflections are great and it's important for a actor to be able to see the scenes around them instead of being in a green room being told what is going on around them. It also made me think of what they could do with these on a set for a show like Star Trek since I know The Next Generation had the T shaped hallway set and the long curved hallway. With this sets could look amazingly different with few real changes.

I was thinking about it more deeply this could be a step stone of virtual reality in a whole new level. Having the rendering environment interact with the actors.

Yep, the article sounded like it would be way cooler to be in / act in - then just a plain green box .

Anyone seen episode 8?  Im hoping they leave StarWars 7,8,9, out of Mandalorian, and just keep it to its own universe. I hated they way Disney screwed 7.8.9, Marvel Endgame was bad enough. Captain Marvel was awesome, hopefully the next Marvel films are good!

    Anyway, E8 was amazing....

So, this be the Mando Thread? and Spoilers or no?

I would have to say - these 8 episodes were better than the last 3 big budget movies , put together.

    Very well done.
