Like the work Donta. Is there been updates to the orginal page given the changes to the way NVIDIA now do their updates? Or have I missed a "Last Updated" somewhere?

Even with the new way NVidia does it now, some people still have strange issues every now and then because the way NVIDIA does it now some things sometimes are left behind. Ill be updating the guide soon enough, at least the new way NVidia does it the issues are less and less how they used to be since I wrote this guide and updated it originally. Still happens sometimes to someone unfortunate enough to have it happen.... so stay tuned =D

Hi. I have a GTX 550 ti and I'm experiencing the now notorious "NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version XXX.XX stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

Question: Are the steps in this thread related in any way to that issue?

Try different drivers. These should work well: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/85817/en-us

Hi Guys,

I'd love to try this method however when I login to my user and try to click start or IE etc my screen goes black and I have to shut down my computer. I'm seriously stuck here. Any Suggestions?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Just to be clear it's not specific to internet. It did it regardless of what I was trying to do.

*Update
I restarted in Safe mode with networking and had no issue. Restarted again in normal mode and the lines and issues are gone. Perhaps I just needed to reach out to the pros to make my cpu nervous. I'll give more updates if the issue reappears.

Regards,

Ok it started again. I'll reboot in safe mode again and try the troubleshooting again.

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Hi Guys,

Update that's not a good one I'm afraid.
After doing everything suggested in the post my card is still acting up. I went to my local Micro Center today and they pretty much agree that my card is on it's last leg.
When I bought this current card 6 years ago (to the day actually) I think I was told it was at the upper limits of what my computer could handle. Today, the friendly neighborhood sales dude at Micro Center suggested a GeForce GTX 1050 Superclocked 2GB GDDR5 saying it's a nice upgrade to what I had. Here are my "specs" as best as I can tell you...

First things first, it's old and also not a "gaming" PC however it works fine (until now that it) for what I need it to do.

It's a dell with:
Intel Xeon E5420 @ 2.50GHz (2 processors)
16BG Ram
Windows 7 64-bit OS
EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 sc

So, having seen the specs, will the GTX 1050 SC work?

Your thoughts???

Thanks again,

Chris

theskipperoakes You might want to Create your Own Thread instead of taking over a Thread that is 8 Years Old Now.

theskipperoakes, 1050 SC should work just fine on your Xeon rig (e.g. since your machine can run a 560 SC, it has enough power to run a 1050 SC ... in fact a 1050 SC is more power efficient than a 560 SC).  And the 1050 SC should give you a graphics performance boost over your 560 SC.
