Do you turn ECO on or off?
I actually totally forgot about the ECO on/off. While i was gaming i encounter below issues.
1. my PSU keep turn on the fan for 5 seconds and off.
2. randomly shutdown
Later i realized i can turn off ECO since then i haven't encounter any restart/shut down problem.

i7- 4700 3.4ghz
12GB rams

Sounds like you may have a faulty PSU there, the ECO mode being on or off shouldn't cause system restarts or shut downs.
The fan should kick in once the PSU reaches a certain temperature/load and should remain on until the temp drops again.
Are you able to test the PSU in a different system to see if you still have the same issues with it?

I only got one system. But the eco on is very annoying while I was gaming because it will hit between 50-55+C and the psu fan keep running for few seconds then off and repeat.
I agree it won’t cause restart or shut down but if the psu is not on then create a lot of heat for my system.

ECO mode shouldn't have anything to do with the randomly shutting down... That would seem to indicate another problem. I did see 1 interesting read about PSU replacements needs from the DELL support site - about certain reqs. for the rails... https://www.dell.com/community/Desktops-General-Read-Only/XPS-8700-Power-Supply-Replacement/td-p/4567328 I will do a small copy/paste of it.... . . The system needs 20W on the +5vsb because it supports more than 8 gigs of ram and S3 power mode.
The system needs 25 to 30 Amps on the 5V rail and 17 to 25A on the 3.3v rail and around 130 to 150w combined minimum for that rail set.
The EPS specification unlike the ATX specification says that 5VSB is 4AMPS or even 6AMPS and that 5V is guaranteed 30AMPS and the combined Rails 170W for a reason. If you look carefully at All the models from 305W to 1000W or more the 12v rails are separated into 18 Amp Sets. The 5VSB is 4A and the 5V is 25 to 32 Amps the 3.3v is 17 to 30Amps, the -12v is constant .3A to 1A and the Number of 12v rails grows as the wattage Grows. The other thing to be watching is that the +5v/3.3v goes from 150 to 170 to 225W for the various dell power supplies. Dell M1J3H 525w
Several Suggested Power supplies have 130 or 120 or less than 100W for the 5v/3.3v rails which lead to issues or even damage if the power supply doesn't have over voltage over current crowbar protection. That can lead to 100 percent Fried system including but not limited to dead cpu, dead ram, dead hard drive, dead video card, motherboard fire and over all dead done stick a fork in its over.
Recommendations should be made on the basis of SPEC for ALL Rails not a single 12v Rail Spec of total Watts.

Wierd, maybe I will try that,as mine is shutting down. If that fixes it, then RM A time I guess!!

I'm so glad I found this post.
I upgraded my GPU from a 2080ti to a 4090 and started getting random power offs or restarts. Of course I thought it was the GPU. After tons of troubleshooting and failing, I found this.
It was the (removed) eco mode switch.
For whatever reason:
eco on + 4090 = random restarts
eco on + 2080ti = fine
eco OFF + 4090 = fine
This isn't the only place I found this issue, so EVGA you got a little problem here.

Really eco mode and hearing the fans on and off with random shutdowns is more of a sign that the PSU might be underpowered for the build.
Eco mode off will run the fan all the time. With Eco mode on it will only run when the PSU is running warm. If the system is not pushing the PSU near its limit then the fans shouldn’t run at all.
I have a 1300W PSU and use eco mode and don’t think that my fans have never ran in the PSU.

I have a 1000w Plat+ PSU, which is more than enough. Either way, if the PSU runs fine with eco off but fails with eco on, how is that not a problem with the PSU? I suspect (I'm not an expert here) that my PSU fails at lower temperatures than it should. So eco mode is keeping the fans off until X threshold but my PSU has a flaw causing failure at Y.

It's perfectly normal for when Eco mode is in uses for the fan on the PSU to spin only as needed. Often times now days it's very common for people to have a PSU that is far beyond what is needed to really power the system. While the system will only use the power it takes to run the system a 1000W PSU for example is built with cooling that will keep it cool if running near that 1000W even if the system is pulling only 700W which means the fan probably won't be needed to cool that system but if the system starts gaming or doing a lot of power hungry tasks then yes it will spin the fans.

The only way to measure it is for you to measure it with instruments you determine are appropriate, and then decide for yourself at what temperature the fan seems to turn on and off.
If you don't want to measure it for yourself, you would have to ask the engineer who designed the power supply. Good luck figuring out who that is, and good luck contacting them.

ECO Mode on my 1000 T2 has just started to get a bit weird now too. If ECO Mode is OFF.... I have to push the power button on the PC up to 20 times before it powers on. I hear the PSU clicking every button push but most times no go. Now I just turned ECO Mode ON.... starts up every button push. ECO Mode may control more then what EVGA is telling us or that we are aware of or the PSUs just get super hot fast without a constant fan. I am going to stress test the system and see if it randomly shuts down under load now too.
As long as your popular enough, you can get away with anything.

If the PSU is clicking after pressing the power button and not turning on, then this usually means that the PSU is sensing an issue, and the protections are kicking in. Since the only thing you are changing is the ECO mode option, I can only assume that the PSU is sensing an issue within the unit, and I would recommend considering warranty on the unit as this is abnormal behavior. I know this is an older thread, but it should be considered that if ECO mode on or off should not change the function of the PSU turning on or the reliability during use.
