I was using the EVGA Nu audio card yesterday just fine and now today it doesn't work at all.  Only thing that changed was that I installed a new ssd (intel 660p) that is completely empty.  My Nu Audio stuff is intalled on my C drive which I did not touch at all...   After installing the new ssd and booting my system I get a message that says, "EVGA Nu audio driver failed to install correctly.  Please reboot your computer and run the installer again."

I never changed anything...  Didn't try installing new drivers or anything.  So now I uninstall everything and try to reinstall the drivers and I keep getting the same message over and over...  I get to this part:

click yes and then shorty after I get this message again:

What am I doing wrong here?  I never had this issue when I first got the product...  What does it meant to disconnect and reconnect the device?  Restart the computer?  I dont understand that step..

Hi, Check you motherboard manual it possible your new drive is sharing the pcie lane with the slot your sound card using.Try to move the sound card to a different pcie slot. You should see something like that.

I have the ASUS ROG STRIX z390 E GAMING motherboard.  (I can't post the link to the user manual.  System won't let me)

The only think it mentions about M.2 slots is that it can disable certain SATA ssd slots.  My audio card is currently in the PCIEX16_3 slot.  The only thing my motherboard says about that is, "The PCIe x16_3 slot shares bandwidth with SATA6G_56.  The PCIe x16_3 is se at x2 mode by default."

I am installing the nu aduio drivers on my main drive, a nvme M.2 ssd.  I do have a ADATA SU800 SATA SSD that is connected, but i am not 100% sure that it connected to the 56 ports exactly.  my gpu is blocking it currently and can't see, but I don't think that should effect it.

Maybe take the thing out of the slot and then put it in again..Or disconnect the SATA power cable to it..Or look in Device Manager under Sound, video and game controllers (it might be there) and then right-click on it and Disable device, then right-click it again and Enable device.

I have the ASUS ROG STRIX Z390 E GAMING motherboard and a intel i7-9700k cpu.  Ekaress's suggestion seems to have helped although I am not sure why.  I switched locations of my audio card from the X16_3 slot to an X1_2 slot right above it and everything worked fine after that.  My motherboard user manual doesn't mention any PCIE lane sharing between the x16_3 slot and the NVME M.2 ssd slot.  The only thing it mentions is, "The PCIe x16_3 slot shares bandwidth with SATA6G_56.  The PCIe x16_3 is se at x2 mode by default."  But I am not using those SATA ports.  Either I don't fully understand the issue here or ASUS is leaving out critical information about PCIE lane sharing...

I looked, and they do not document well (or rather, they don't document at all) the effect of using the M.2 slots on the board, except for using SATA lanes on one of the ports with a SATA-based M.2.  You have a PCIe based M.2 Intel drive, which is going to draw PCIe lanes (so it wouldn't disable any SATA ports on your motherboard, anyway).  There are some PCIe lanes afforded to the PCH, but ASUS doesn't list what actually uses it.  My guess is that your M.2 drive in the slot it's in draws the PCIe lanes from X16_3, which disables it.  It's even possible that moving the drive to your other M.2 slot on the board might allow you to use the X16_3 slot, but hard to tell without documentation.

As it is, using one of the X1 slots works equally as well as an X16 slots, so it sounds like it's good to go.

Glad it was taken care of by switching the card to another slot. Normally issues like this is the PCIe lanes being shared since it's an M.2 drive. If it was a SATA drive I would have wondered about the power supply and if a cable got pulled out of the NU Audio card.

Ok, idk what's going on anymore.  Worked fine yesterday... I boot my computer again today and it says that the drivers were not installed correctly and I can't use the audio card.....   I didn't do anything this time.  The audio card is in the X1 slot.  What is going on here?  I am stuck in the same exact place I was in the original post...  Same error messages when trying to reinstall drivers and everything

I tried updating the bios, switching the card between the X16_3 and the X1_3 slots, and installing drivers on 3 different drives on my PC.  Nothing works and I am still getting the "EVGA Nu Audio driver failed to install correctly" message.  I am going through the same procedure as in the original post and getting the exact same result as the original post.  I don't know what to do now.  Is there anything I can do in the bios with the ssd's and the lanes they use or something?  I can't believe adding another ssd caused this many problems...  I don't want to have to uninstall the ssd and return it just to get the audio card to work again :(

Maybe the NU Audio Card has failed. Do you have a different PC to test it in?

I do not unfortunately.  Would EVGA customer support send me a replacement or something? I may be wrong, but I have a feeling that it's not the audio card.  I installed the SSD and the card stopped working.  I moved the card to a different slot and it worked for ~2 days and then it randomly stopped working.  I also noticed that the card is not recognized by windows at any point.  I don't see it under device manager anywhere...

Did you swap or change the SATA power connector to the NU card at any point during this?

I did not.  The audio card actually has it's own SATA power connecter connected right to the PSU.  No other ssd's or anything else is being powered of the SATA power connector that is connected to the audio card.  I can see that the card is getting power because the RGB lights are on.

Spit balling here - have you checked for update bios for the motherboard?
And you are using Windows 10 correct?

Yes, I actually updated the bios just yesterday hoping that would help, but it did not unfortunately.  And, yes I am currently on windows 10.

I also just noticed this (check picture):

    https://imgur.com/mXWHzKr

It seems like the left most pin is possibly damaged?  Or is this normal?  It's hard to tell from pictures online of the audio card, but I don't think I notice that shorter pin in pictures online.  Not sure if this is an issue since the card was working just fine a couple days ago...

EDIT*  Looking at some more pictures online it looks like this is normal and not broken...

Not all cards have those short connectors but a lot do, you'll notice the 2nd one on the other side is the same way.  Nothing to worry about it is normal.
