EVGA SuperNOVA 850 PQ, 80 Plus PLATINUM 850W
Has this been an issue lately with EVGA power supplies?

This is my first EVGA power supply purchased. I mostly buy Corsair PS for my pc builds. But I was buying a 2080 RTX EVGA graphic card, so I thought I might as well order the EVGA power supply at the same time.

The power supply came with the tester tool. So I connect the tool to the 24-pin connector, set ECO mode to off and fire up the power supply. No fan spin. Having experience working with arcade game power supplies both linear and switch mode, I test the power supply under load. I test the +12vdc rail with a DMM and nothing.
.....This is the first brand new power supply that I have bought that arrived DOA. Actually, after several PC builds, I can't recall any parts showing up DOA. Maybe it was just my time to experience this. Anyway, started the Service Center and RMA process.
.....I will give EVGA an opportunity to get me a working power supply. If the replacement is DOA, I will go back to buying Corsair power supplies.

Sorry to hear that your first EVGA PSU is DOA, stuff happens, and be assured EVGA will hook you up..But something you may not be aware of is that when you return the PSU for a warranty replacement, be sure to only send the PSU itself (no cables, etc.) because you will only be receiving a power supply in return.

Right on. Thanks for the heads up.
I should probably order a back up power supply. Got a pre Black Friday deal that looks good. Never hurts to have spare pc gaming parts.

This is apparently NOT a rarity.  I have bought two EVGA 850w Gold in the last month and they are BOTH DOA.  Not only is the second one DOA, it isn't even assembled correctly!  It makes horrible noises when you insert or remove the power cord!  It's like the board you plug into is loose and loudly popping/grinding on whatever it's supposed to be mounted to!

I built my first PC in 1997, and I have never seen such trash.  I am avoiding EVGA permanently.
