Im having an issue with my new CLC 280

I have to manually move the fans for them to start moving. After that, the RPM of the fans is shown on the software. I can even move the bar to raise de RPM, but if I go too low on RPM, the fans stop spinning again. And I have to raise the bar, and start them manually again

Everything on the motherboard seems ok... but I don't know, Z390 seems to be buggy with this AIO Pump.. any suggestions ?

Have you set the mobo fan header manually in the BIOS to run at 100% DC?..If not, do that..And which header do you have it connected to?

+1 Make sure you have put 4 pins on to PWM fan and set fan to 100% not left on Auto.
Please read pages 4b it about how to install correct Closed Loop Water Cooling Kit
EDIT? did you pins up 2 pins from two fans into one pin to the pump?

setting the fan to auto, and PWM, and voltage, and manual 100%, and full speed and....
i've tried EVERYTHING, i work with computer hardware for a living for almost 20 years and I cant believe this is so complicated to achieve in 2020... there are COUNTLESS of posts everywhere with people having problems to make A FAN SPIN

i've even tried to plug the fans directly to the motherboard, without using the Y, and they just dont spin.

ive tried the sys pump, the the sysfan the cpu fan, the cpu opt
maybe its something with the gigabytes motherboards, or the aorus ultra z390 (as ive read people having the exact or similar problem) and the lame fan software, or i really dont know anymore.

Is your cooler pump working? Seem your fans is faulty which will not spin!
Maybe your CLC cooler is faulty but I advise your contact EVGA Customer Support which you start RMA!

    A couple things.

I wonder who makes the fans..Should be on the sticker on the back..They're rated to run between 600 and 2200 RPM..Try different fans if you have any laying around..Since you plugged them directly to the motherboard and they still don't spin makes me think they're junk.

When you change the fan speed like you did in the video, shouldn't the 'APPLY' button in Flow Control light up and become clickable like in Precision when you change GPU fan speed?

not to my experience. pump goes up on rpm without hitting apply.
when i plug any of my case fans to the same pins that I plug the evga directly, they run perfectly normal...

This still tells me the EVGA fans are junk..Can you plug one of your case fans into the CLC 280 and see if it works okay..Or if necessary, go buy a fan that fits the CLC 280 fan connector for 10 bones or so..You can buy a fan anywhere PC parts/accessories are sold, even some supermarkets.

I truly can't believe that this is so tricky to do.
It's all in the video, ive set all connectors to have PWM at full speed
The mb is a Gigabyte Aorus Ultra z390 (which, again, i've found people having similar issues)
The firmware is the latest (9b i think it is). The OS is Windows 10 latest version (which I don't see hows that relevant, if the fans should work even on the BIOS... ¿?)
What does it mean "with power unplugged" ???

remove plug from wall before turning fans by hand = "with power unplugged"

NOT PWM ---> set MB Header to DC & full power

ive tried them on every single  fan header with full speed
now it got even worse, i cant manually start the fans, until windows start and the evga software is open, if its closed, the fans stop completely and cant even start them manually.

Have you try reset your motherboard BIOS setting back default and setup those fans again the reason motherboard read the fans error speed RPM. I can remember my motherboard did once when I change new fans for case then I can hear so noise so I decide and give try reset my BIOS setting and it fix my fan more quiet!!!!
    Have a go and try?
    If not the start RMA?

If your CLC is connected to a USB 3.0 port on the MB --> the USB 3.0 port will not work till your PC is inside Windows

    Still can't solve this
I have to manually start them
I've tried every every every thing I could possible do with the MB settings.
Is there a way to override the PWM controls from my MB with an external controller or something like that?

Re: CLC 280 fans not starting automatically 2019/11/17 19:04:29 (permalink)
Heyz, after fighting with this same exact issue for a while I decided to swap out the fans with 2 Rosewill Hyperborea 14cm fans. They have a max speed of 1300 rpm but at least they work properly, well they start automatically and adjust RPM. With the latest flow control software the APPLY button only lights up when I open fan curve so I doubt changes to pump speed gets saved to the CLC 280 unless profiles get saved directly to the CLC. Not sure what caused both the EVGA fans to stop working properly at the same time but they wont even start on their own while connected directly to the cpu fan header. Whatever has caused the issues one thing seems clear, it doesnt get removed when uninstalling or deleting the folder possibly also registry issues. Hopefully EVGA will send me 2 new fans.
I had uninstalled flow control and deleted the flow control folder then installed flow control 203 and at least that version allowed me to close flow control and have the fans keep spinning. this was before changing fans. Also I noticed in bios it showed the fans rpm even tho the fans were not spinning, I am guessing it was reading the pump which makes me think something in the code causes bios to read the pump which then thinks the fans are spinning so doesnt see a need to send more voltage or just plain thinks the fans are fine. someone needs to go thru the code. Or better yet dont try and pull all the power for the pump and the fans from one fan header. The USB 2 is used solely for the flow control software from what I read. If everything was working properly you would be able to uninstall flow control and disconnect the usb2  from the header and the CLC 280 would then use onboard profiles. But since it doesnt appear things are getting saved to the CLC 280 I wouldnt attempt doing this.
Sorry for the long post, I hope at least something can be useful.
