From October 24th 00:00:00 UTC until October 29th 00:00:00 UTC they will be having a 5 day challenge running the 321 Prime Search (LLR) Project to celebrate 50 years from when the first ARPANET data message was sent between the two networked computers. Arpanet was renamed the internet in 1984, when it linked 1,000 hosts at university and corporate labs.

This is the 321 LLR challenge, NOT the 321 sieve project. Pretty big tasks, may want to use MultiThread and no HT, test and see what's best.
Only tasks DL after the start and returned before the stop time count. So no bunkering before hand.
As with the other LLR projects, watch your temps and overclocks. Make sure your systems are stable. Clean the HSF and radiators out.

The challenge thread: http://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=8855#133841

Good luck, hope you find a prime, if you do it will be a big one.

Starts 8PM EDST

I am getting tasks that are on the server up to 24 hours after one of the two sent out that were not aborted.
The two tasks sent out from the creation server to the distribution server are sent at the same time
The tasks sent from the distribution server to us has had longer and longer time in between being sent.
The tasks sent to you and me can be up to 24hr different. The Distribution server does not send them at the same time.
We are all getting aborted and timed out tasks. A couple of them were aborted a couple times that I was still 1st on.
They should make it so the tasks are sent at the same time, but I guess it can not be done.
Don't let it bother you, you still get credit for doing the work. It may work in your favor on some tasks

With the weather cooled off a bit, I had an Asus x99 and an Intel 8 core xeon Haswell sitting waiting for me to do something with.
I slapped it together and threw Ubuntu 18.04 on it and fired it up. Figured that was the fast easiest thing to do for now.
It is unlocked and I started at 3.9ghz.
It is running cool and stable. Going to leave it as is until the end of the challenge then see how far I can push it.
Seems to be doing fine so far, no bad invalid tasks.
Hope someone finds a prime, getting close to the end, only a day left to go.

End of challenge reminder from PG thread

With about a day remaining in the challenge, it's time to remind everyone...

At the Conclusion of the Challenge

When the challenge completes, we would prefer users "moving on" to finish those tasks they have downloaded, if not then please ABORT the WU's (and then UPDATE the PrimeGrid project) instead of DETACHING, RESETTING, or PAUSING.

ABORTING WU's allows them to be recycled immediately; thus a much faster "clean up" to the end of a Challenge. DETACHING, RESETTING, and PAUSING WU's causes them to remain in limbo until they EXPIRE. Therefore, we must wait until WU's expire to send them out to be completed.

Likewise, if you're shutting down the computer for an extended period of time, or deleting the VM (Virtual Machine), please ABORT all remaining tasks first.

    Thank you!

Knock on wood, so far, no task errors, systems are crunching right along. No reboots, shutdowns.....
321 seems to be a very stable project.

    Next PrimeGrid's 2019 Challenge Series
Transit of Mercury Across the Sun Challenge  https://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=8864&nowrap=true#134237
    Nov 1 18:04:00 to Nov 11 18:04:00 (UTC)
To participate in the Challenge, please select only the Prime Sierpinski Problem LLR (PSP) project in your PrimeGrid preferences section.
Application builds are available for Linux 32 and 64 bit, Windows 32 and 64 bit and MacIntel. Intel CPUs with FMA3 capabilities (Haswell, Broadwell, Skylake, Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake) will have a very large advantage, and Intel CPUs with dual AVX-512 (certain recent Intel Skylake-X and Xeon CPUs) will be the fastest.
