I have a z370k mobo that once had less then 5sec times. I literally changed nothing... then one day it took forever to boot through the bios, it now takes atleast 3 mins...

I cleared cmos, flashed the bios, and changed to the backup bios, still did nothing....

The board is less then 6months old, and i have never once OC anything.

Any ideas?

What POST code is it holding up on?

If you haven't yet, completely decay CMOS by turning off/unplugging the PSU and removing the CMOS battery for about 5 minutes.

Forum Search (top-right of this page) 'IDE Detect' and/or 'Post Code A2' and you'll see some various fixes that some other forum members have posted..Could be simple as replacing the CMOS battery.

Doubt it's the battery for a 6 month old board. Try placing the ssd on another controller. The drive could be failing, you didn't say how old it is.

I bought it around this time last year so around 1 year. I dont have any other issues with the drive after it gets started. But the sata cable is a bit older, about 5years to be exact... so i may try replacing that and see if it fixes, ill update tomorrow.

Yep..I would roll with that..Maybe reseating it a few times might even fix it..You prolly have another SATA cable or two in the box the mobo came in.

Problem solved, i actually have a bad dvd rom drive. Pulled all the sata conectors and replaced one by one until i duplicated the result, when i got to the dvd rom i had the 3min bios time. I changed the sata connector to confirm it wasnt the problem or a bad port after doing that still had the 3min bios time. Removed the dvd rom and bios time was under 10 sec
Weird how tech works....
Thanks for the help guys

I leave my optical drive physically connected in the system but not electrically connected. It does slow down the system when on so it is off for now, but it's also there if I ever need it. Glad you are back to normal.

Decided I wasn't using my optical drive enough and pulled it from my rig. It was around 10 years old (and sporadically cranky) so I simply replaced it with a cheap USB LG Ultra Slim portable DVD writer for those extremely rare times I actually need one.

Had a similar problem a few years ago with a secondary SSD drive that was slowly dying. Boot times had blown out to minutes until I found the misbehaving hardware.
