Definitely ... always a good reason to clean up, refurbish, etc., existing PC components (or buy new ones)! Suggestion: If anyone has good contacts with Stanford U. [link=mailto:folding@home,]folding@home,[/link] maybe let them know of the challenge period this winter, so they can prepare for the massive influx of projects and prepare their servers. Could probably prevent potential breakdowns during the contest period.  Been looking forward to this for about a month now ... since Thanksgiving is on 28 November and Cyber Monday is 2 December, possibly start the challenge on Tuesday, 3 December?

It'd be cool... but EVGA would then need to sponsor a Crunching event too to make it fair. I'm happy enough that EVGA has continued to sponsor folding in general on top of the regular annual Anniversary event and the frequent smaller giveaway events.

The only support the Crunching Team sees is an Open Area on the Forum. Adding the Crunching Side may drop support for the Folding Side and the real support EVGA Provides to the Folding Team the Bucks and all. Both are slowly fading away here and elsewhere. It was nice when we had an Folding and Crunching Event but we only had one over time being that most Folders do not care for BOINC Events as much as Folding Events that earn them the Bucks at the same time. We also lost a lot of Folders Last Years TZC over the Gifts of the year before if some remember.

Only that some members pulled out in 2017 because they only had low end cards and stated that is was unfair is all. Cannot seem to find the post ATM, still looking. The more I look the more I think the Posts have been deleted to clean up the Threads. It might have been the PPD that was required to be able to select a gift and or the minimum PPD overall.

I do not remember that ever happening. If it did, it is simply soup grapes because exceptions are readily granted for anyone that doesn't have the hardware to meet any stated minimum.

The grouping in the timezone challenges usually worked out well. Some people got upset at some if the rules, but I don't remember any ill will regarding the prizes themselves. Maybe some got upset when the prize count dropped after that 1080ti smorgasbord one year.

Last year, as I recall, there were only nine folders in the Mountain time zone participating in the TZC. Getting the word out to all EVGA folks as early as possible before this year's challenge would make this the best year yet. I think it needs to be announced on EVGAs main webpage, and with active company involvement. Just saying...

There never has been a lot in Mountain time zone . We have all ways been small but packed a big stick . I am in if we do a TZ with my old card I moved to Tacoma so no longer MT time  .
