Do not see it listed, but my Z390 Dark will suddenly not go past it.

Also getting POST code 14.

First and third BIOS inoperable, second BIOS OK.

Can I reflash the first and third, or do I need a new BIOS chip?

System pretty much jacked up, will not boot into Windows, stops at logo screen. Cannot enter startup repair or Safe mode. Was able to reinstall windows.

    Looks like a CPU problem. No joy on a code 23. Did you clear the cmos?

    Tried unplugging PSU and removing CMOS battery.

    No change. I am down to one BIOS.

    EDIT:

    Update.

    OK, got first and third BIOS reflashed using the USB drive and port on motherboard.

    I am concerned, though, that those two BIOS became corrupt and managed to take out my Windows installation.

    Yes, you can reflash the other ones using the good one.

    Nope as the manual doesn't state what code 23 is.

    I know, I checked the manual for the code before I asked.

    Perhaps someone at evga knows?

    Strange that it would show a non-existent code, don't you think?

    Yes, strange indeed. Someone at evga may be able to tell you what the code means. Have you tried only booting the pc with only one stick of ram installed?

    I did before I reflashed the two bad BIOS. No effect.

    I'm guessing you tested all sticks of ram in one dimm slot too? I'd try one stick in each dimm slot too just to make sure the dimm slots are ok.

    Yes, tested each stick in each slot.

    Have you checked the cpu socket for bent pins?

    I am quite confident there are no bent pns in the CPU socket, but no, I have not checked.

    I re-flashed the two bad BIOS, and everything is back to normal, I was just curious as to why it happened and what POST code 23 is?

    From the AMI documents;

    0x10 –0x2F PEI execution up to and including memory detection

    PEI = pre-EFI initialization

    Code 23 is IMC initialisation and DRAM detection, which in your case failed to occur due to CMOS and BIOS corruption.

    OK, thanks.

    Now, I wonder what caused two of the three BIOS to become corrupt?
