I was changing between saved profiles, when I noticed that the options were not what I believed I had saved.

I declined the changes and went back the Advanced tab to check on my selected options, and a lot of options that were not available previously appeared. At least twice the normal amount of options.

I took photos (34 in all) of the screens of the new options, but I cannot upload them because they are too big.

Really weird.

    The latest is 1.06.
Not sure though why you would suddenly see new options in 1.03 - unless maybe you had not expanded some areas previously to reveal them.

If I could post pics of the two different screens, I would and we could compare.

1.06 does not seem to like my USB 3.1 connected external nvme drive.

Let me try providing links to the main BIOS screen, it took two pics to get it all.

OK, does everyone have those options?

IMO you have a slider a the right hand side.  One picture has the slider at the top and the other picture has the sider at the bottom.  Could it be that the choices would be the same if the sliders where at the same position?  I do not have that board so I am guessing there may be on or two different choices if the sliders were at the same positions.

The reason the slider is in two different positions is that I had to slide it down and take a second pic to capture all of the options, as I stated.

Anyone with a Dark have those same options?

Are you able to show pictures before and after? Typically options don’t suddenly appear in a bios, unless you update and get presented with options that were added.

From your images, in the top left you have “extras” open, have you tried switching back to the normal view in the bios to see if it looks familiar?

Could you update to the newest BIOS?

The 'normal' Advanced tab. This what I get when entering BIOS from startup.

The Extras is not open. The Advanced tab is open.

I was checking out the other tabs, OC and Boot have some extra info but no extra options.

This (the new options) is a repeatable condition if I follow a certain procedure in the BIOS.

I do have 1.06 in one of the other BIOS, but this is not about that.

I looked at your screenshots and it is a little weird. As far as I know, you should not have some of those settings. Can you please send us a e-mail to webmaster@evga.com with those screenshots and a link to this forum thread so we can look further into this?

My best guess is that you have something installed, maybe a PCIe device or something connected via internal USB or other port, that has some sort of GUI interface with the BIOS.

Sounds strange, but when I upgraded from an X99 to my X299 DARK, suddenly I noticed the same thing - that I had some rather strange BIOS menus that I don't recall seeing before.  In my case, it turned out to be my RAID Card; instead of having to use the RAID card's GUI to set things up, it now interfaced directly with the X299 DARK BIOS and I was able to control it that way.

I recall that you had the issue with the Windows To Go version, and I wonder if it might be picking up EFI settings from your previous motherboard.

However, please do me a favor and check the bottom left of the motherboard, just below the bottom screw hole for the board and revision number.

Strange indeed. I sent the pics as Adam requested and the reply was that it was probably some add-in device causing the extras.

I have the GPU (2080 FTW3 Ultra) and a Vantech sound card in the PCI-E slots. Neither have any BIOS accessible options, that I know of.

I have several USB connected devices; keyboard/mouse, UPS, printer, external nvme drive, gamepad. Also, none of these have BIOS accessible options.

The extra options only appear if I do a certain procedure in the BIOS, and only with one saved BIOS profile, and only with the 1.03 BIOS.

I have looked through the extras, and it appears they are all motherboard related. Does anyone see anything that looks like something other than motherboard options in the pics? If so, please point it out.

I need to do some more investigating.

Re: A lot of new options appeared in BIOS. 2019/09/23 17:57:44 (permalink)
Those options are the AMI Basecode "Setup" options.  If there are not too many strings error, you can see them by opening the bios file (IF its a BIN file but not an exe) with AMIBCP 5.02.0031 and going to "Setup".  All those options are there.  The problem is, these are generic basecode options, including stuff for laptops, and board vendors usually hide what doesn't apply to their SKU, or they remap certain options to appear in their own custom menus (like shown in the second screenshot).  Unhiding all menus usually is disabled for desktops or isn't available with some weird bios hotkey (MSI laptops have a hotkey for enabling all of the hidden AMI basecode menus).
