Hello.

My first 1080 Ti KPE died and I sent it in for an RMA a few months ago, the new one is working fine but there's something different about the BIOS.
The original card behaved differently under load. The Core clock was fixed to a certain value and as the temperatures went up, the core voltage went up to maintain the exact same core clock throughout.
The new card acts like a normal 1080 Ti. It starts at max voltage (1.09v) with a certain core clock and as the temperatures go up, it drops both the voltage and the clocks.
This has to be because of the BIOS, and I much prefer the "Older" version of the boost algorithm.
My current BIOS is version 86.02.39.41.90. Is it possible to receive other revisions of 1080 Ti KPE BIOS with different boost algorithms? I always keep my card's BIOS selector switch on the "OC" setting.

Cheers

Only if the card came with the xoc vbios loaded to it which shouldn't happen.

Really? Because I bought the the first card second hand and put it on the OC BIOS switch.

Is that behavior only possible with the XOC BIOS?

It is very possible since you stated you bought the first card second hand that the original owner of the card flashed the OC BIOS on it to the XOC BIOS and never flashed it back to the original OC BIOS before he/she sold it to you.

Yeah, that's a shame because I liked the boost behavior a lot better with the XOC BIOS. maybe that's the reason it died in the first place because the XOC BIOS disabled all thermal protection.
Anyways, the new card can only do 2000 MHz on the core, anything more and the drivers will crash under a heavy load.

You could always flash the OC BIOS on your new card to the XOC BIOS..................
