Several times over the last couple of months while playing games, my monitors have gone black and no picture has come back on them. This also happened last night while playing vr when my headset went black. After restarting my PC everything started working fine again. I don't know if this is caused by overheating or not. My temps are usually between 75 and 85 Celsius when under load and I have never seen them get any higher than that. However, I am not always monitoring my temps and every time this has happened, I wasn't. If this is overheating, it could be due to what I have noticed to look like my heatsink separating from the top of my GPU. I am not very educated on GPUs so any help would be great.

Do the fans on your gpu spin up to max speed when the issue occurs?

I have a very aggressive fan curve so they would have already been at max speed when the issue occurred. Also, I wanted to add that this issue seems fairly random. A few nights ago I streamed vr for about 4 hours straight and was fine. Last night I was playing vr for about 30 mins when it happened.

What is the make/model/age of your psu? Does underclocking the gpu to max negative values on the core & memory with msi afterburner help prevent the issue from occurring?

The psu is a thermaltake smart 750w. It's about 3-4 years old so it could be about due for an upgrade. I'll try that tonight when I get home from work.

Last night I played some games for a bit with the GPU underclocked and I didnt have the issue occur but I also played with it at stock speeds and everything was fine as well. I don't think the issue really is overheating because I have been monitoring my temps the last couple of days and they've barely been reaching 80 degrees. Anyways I'm going to buy a new PSU since I was already planning to. I'll let you know if the issue occurs with the new one.
