Just finished my new pc build and I wanted to build a near silent rig, I have achieved that but the loudest part is the G3 1000w evga PSU, when it comes on its by far the loudest thing, very frustrating as it just won’t turn back off.

What are my options?

35decibels whole rig and around 45-48 decibels with psu running. Still quiet but I want quiet running :-)

Annoying as just spent out £180 on this PSU.

System:
Duel d5 pumps
Mo-ra3 420 pro with 9x 140mm (running 20% 500rpm)
Water cooled cpu and hydro copper gpu.
Case fans are 3x noctua running 20%

Its more of the issue the psu fan will just not switch back off even when idling for 30mins more, I restart machine and it stops.

You may know you cannot open PUS or replace fan! I think you should RAM your faulty PSU. I have same your PSU is can't hear quiet PSU fan but can see fan running is very quiet!
If you haver already register your warranty then you can start RMA but firstly Please contact EVGA Customer Services
Have you check your PSU fan see any wrong and why made this noise

I don’t think anything is wrong with it, just not for my needs. The computer isn’t just quiet its silent, so its very noticeable.

The rad and pumps are not in the same room!

I didn’t think a single fan would be so noisy.

Is the sound coming from the PSU is just the sound of it pushing air or does it sound like some mechanical sound from the fan?

Well it only happens when fan is on.. but I just hit it while it was on and now its gone quiet... might of fixed it :D (light tap to the side of it, not a drop kick from the top of a set of ladders).

See if it comes back, if it does I'll RMA it.

I have that same PSU. Turn off eco mode if it's on. Eco mode is horrible on that PSU. It'll be silent for a bit, then the fan will ramp up to 100% for 30 seconds or so every 20 minutes. With Eco mode off, it's pretty silent.

The fan seems to only run at once speed, doesn’t seem to ramp, either on or off from my testing... maybe not getting it hot enough though if thats the case

The min speed is still loud.
