It is no secret that AMD has made a huge success with its long awaited "Zen" CPUs and returned to PC market stronger than ever. Intel however has neglected AMD's presence and only recently admitted what an impact AMD made. At this year's Gamescon, Intel started a new campaign against AMD with a point that Intel's CPUs are still better performers with "real world benchmarks" backing that claim.

"A year ago when we introduced the i9 9900K," says Intel's Troy Severson, "it was dubbed the fastest gaming CPU in the world. And I can honestly say nothing's changed. It's still the fastest gaming CPU in the world. I think you've heard a lot of press from the competition recently, but when we go out and actually do the real-world testing, not the synthetic benchmarks, but doing real-world testing of how these games perform on our platform, we stack the 9900K against the Ryzen 9 3900X. They're running a 12-core part and we're running an eight-core," he adds. "I'll be very honest, very blunt, say, hey, they've done a great job closing the gap, but we still have the highest performing CPUs in the industry for gaming, and we're going to maintain that edge."

The fact that Intel has said that AMD is closing the gap is a rather embarrassing admission in my opinion. I'm curious about the release of the AMD 3950X in September and how that CPU will compare against the 9900K.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Intel's answer is qualitative, while AMD's answer is quantitative.

Well its kind of been like that for a while now with AMD focusing on core count and experimentation while intel focusing on IPC gains and die shrinking.
Two different schools of thought but in their own way both valuable.
Though the quality bit is.... eh AMD's quality right now is overall quite good right now and I would argue that AMD has had good quality stuff in the past even in the FX era.
The Phenom II, The Athelon X2 series hell i argue the AMD FX-8320 was actually a good processor despite the obvious setbacks it had in gaming as it was still good in multithread/multicore tasks.
And its not like Intel has a perfect track record, can you say Pentium D?

Currently AMD but for the longest time die drinking was Intel's core driving force until at least Skylake

To be fair, they weren't that great on thermals (AMD).  Intel even had a higher thermal limit, giving you more headroom for OCs.

Yeah thermals were a big weakness for AMD for the longest time there, now its a non issue (even with some of the teething issues that Zen and Zen2 have had)

Yeah but still for overclockers it was a big deal and you dont know the influence youtubers like Jay, Steve and Linus have.

They, combined, have less influence than the Kardashians individually, unfortunately.

This is less proff of the non-existence of god, and more undeniable proof of human stupidity.

That issue is the persistent moving of the goalpost that tech company marketing departments exist for. Both sides frame the context to stack the deck.
