Meh - if it impacts AMD, it will impact NVidia too - they are both based in Santa Clara, CA. The US dollar has become so strong vs the Chinese Yuen, it negates a big chunk of the tariffs anyway.

Except Nvidia is the one that currently determines prices, has better market share, and better volume. AMD will therefore come out the worse for any tariffs it has to deal with. Time and time again market underdogs always suffer more in trade wars, and any companies already operating on the edge or the fringe often don't survive them.

The current NAVI die is pretty small and is equal to the Nvidia 2070Super. Navi 5800xt will be bigger and faster, Navi 5900 will be a monster.

When the supposed "nVidia killer" line appeared, it was in reference for Navi 21 and Navi 23, not Navi 20-- the latter seems to get most of the attention in the rumormill as if this supposed nVidia killer will come very soon.  It's a dumb assumption that will generate false hope and an excuse to put AMD down later when Navi 20 "isn't up to hype".  Best of all are those that cop-out with a "let's see" attitude towards finding out which rumor is true; no, one is a rumor while the other is ignorance.

As a result, nVidia's amperage generation would continue to be expected to continue in the summer of 2020 and optimistic in the spring of 2020. This would continue to hold open the possibility that nVidia will introduce a new (ampere-based) HPC chip this year, this can be the result of risk production and thus be a few months ahead of consumer chips.

they were taped out in spring , so possible HPC may be avail this year for a GTC event

NVIDIA is yet to disclose the defining features of the "Ampere" architecture. Nvidia itself have published one Teaser video Evidence of a revelation on August 20 at Gamescom.

NVIDIA Earnings – Beat Propels Stock Price Up in After Hours Trading

NVIDIA Earnings – Data Centre to Come Good Next Quarter

Q3 is looking to be a strong one for NVIDIA with the company guiding revenue expectations of $2.9 billion plus or minus 2% while margin is expected to jump again to 62%. Stunning when you consider that in Q2 2019, at the height of crypto sales mania margin was at 63.5% and revenue at $3.1 billion.

their current nvidia killers are only killers when you look at price and FPS.
It doesn't include that the Radeons don't have RTX.

  • Revenue of $2.58 billion vs analyst expectations of $2.54 billion
  • Earnings per share of $1.24 vs $1.15 expected by analysts
  • Revenue up 16% quarterly, down 17% annually
  • Gross margin up 1.4% to 59.8%
Gaming revenue, the star performer came in at $1.31 billion for the quarter up from the $1 billion last quarter but still well below the $1.8 billion it peaked at during the height of the crypto boom.

30% increase from quarter to quarter

doesn't sound like there is any dent to Nvidia in that.....doesn't meet the term "killer" when your competition grew 30%

AMD prepare and 3500 processor with 6 core. Intel is in shock.
Without competitive prices, with weaker premium model, with obsolete PCI-E Interface, without solution in reasonable feature.

Now when AMD launch X590 Chipset for Ryzen 3000 and Ryzen 4000 AMD will catch Intel with same number of customers.

OK, making up a new rule here, nothing is allowed to be called a "whatever" killer until after it kills the whatever, instead it must be called an "aspiring whatever killer" until it has successfully killed the whatever. Innocent until proven guilty in all, and that applies to killing objects and intangible things too.

I can make such a rule because of my self-approved badge of official-ness.

or "challenger"? Or we could go the other way and do the whole dramatic "I AM DEATH, FEAR ME!" thing, and call it "whatever DESTROYER!" or "whatever DOOM BRINGER!" or "PUNY whatever, PREPARE TO MEET YOUR END!" it must have an exclamation mark at the end though ..lolz

There is zero proof to say that is a NVIDIA chip.  Or an AMD chip.  Or an Intel chip.  Or an ARM chip.  Or a Huawei chip.  Or a working chip.  Or alien technology.  Or an ancient Roman artifact.  Or anything more than a mock-up.

I don't know why you are suddenly spreading baseless information about that picture in multiple threads.

did i say it was... no
i said it could be

TSMC put it out there - this is an actual product they have produced
didn't say who it was for....but i don't think its intel or AMD

PS: i very well could be low-balling the ram size
8 sticks of 8GB hbm 2 would be bare min for a card/chip that size
seeing that they do make 16GB stacks or HBM2(for 128GB) and 32 GB stacks of HBM3  ...you could have 256GB on that

Everyone wants an AMD product to kill the 2080 Ti or its current equivalent. What you'll likely get is something that will compete at the 2060 or 2070 equivalent price point.

The AMD RX 5700 XT already competes with the RTX 2070 for less money. We are looking to the future, not the present or the past.

I think most people are just blind to that 5700XT. The reviews are in and AIB cards have landed, the 5700XT is awesome.

----------
As far as it going head to head with the 2080 (xx), I think the internal people at AMD are talking about a product that will just decimate anything Nvidia has or will have for a generation after that, not just the current 2080 (xx) cards.
Would be fun to see, but we'll have to wait and see.
