Hello. I am looking to get a slightly more up to date CPU/MOBO/RAM combo, something I can get used. Right now, I've been chasing gremlins in my older setup for a while, and just this morning, the fan on my chipset starting making a racket, so who knows how long before that thing finally dies out? Last night I noticed flickering when switching from full screen video and back to desktop. I will probably get a video card used as well. Always something with this thing even after reformatting a while ago. I think there is some hardware problem somewhere, and getting kind of tired of looking to replace things one by one. Not looking to build a monster machine or anything, but something reasonable in price, and might as well get something a bit newer. What should I be looking into?

I would look at something like this, should hold you over for years to come z370 or z390 MB Intel i5-9600k CPU 2x8gb DDR4-3000 G-skill 1660 or 1660Ti- 2060 2070 or used gtx1070ti 1080, 1080Ti Reuse your drives for now, or get a 256gb Samsung NVME drive for the OS At least a gold PSU, 650G to 850G or platinum. Don't cheap out on a PSU after spending hard earned money on hardware. Reuse your windows10 You can deactivate the OS from the motherboard and reuse it. Here is how. Uninstall Windows 10 Product Key With the computer connected to the internet Press Windows key + X then click Command Prompt (Admin). At the command prompt, enter the following command: slmgr.vbs /upk. Then hit enter. You will get a notice then that the key was uninstalled. Easiest way to reinstall. While doing a fresh install of windows, at the beginning where it asks for a key, click "do not have a key" Instal windows and updates. When done go to activate and install the key and activate. It has worked every time I have done it and I have done it many times never having to call MS

For price/ performance I'd consider a Ryzen 2000 series with a B450 board. There's a lot of deals right now. The B450 can upgrade to Ryzen 3000 later if you want. I just picked up a Ryzen 2700 with am Asus B450 for $220 the other day.

joeymir +1 on Ryzen 2000 series & B450 Motherboard. Just the other day the 2600 was on sale on newegg for just $120! Absolutely crazy for what a great performing CPU it is. Also the 2700x I've seen for just $200 which is a monster of a CPU for that price. Personally with how cheap one could build a Ryzen 5/7 setup, I wouldn't risk going the used route. EDIT https://www.newegg.com/asus-tuf-b450-plus-gaming/p/N82E16813119142?Item=N82E16813119142 Motherboard $111 https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-5-2600/p/N82E16819113496?Description=ryzen%202600&cm_re=ryzen_2600-_-19-113-496-_-Product CPU $135 https://www.newegg.com/ballistix-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820164026?Item=N82E16820164026 Ram $66 So entire core system for under $320? hard to beat that, even used! Keep in mind there is always promo codes in Newegg email blasts, which could save you even more money.
I don't really want to buy anything right now, but my PC just feels like a time bomb atm, and the constant hardware issues I am having are irritating. But I like this idea gents, as this seems like the most economical for me right now. I'm going with the items all from microCenter. And there is even a decent bundle that makes it a bit cheaper. Even with tax it is not too bad, and still cheaper from anything else I can find online for the mobo/cpu/mem($264). To keep things economical, I'm only buying 1 stick of mem at 8GB, will add more later possibly along with diff video card, as I'm not even gaming much right now, just need my PC for work stuff. Going with this, might go pick it up tomorrow, so any other suggestions, or anything I might be overlooking, lemme know: https://www.microcenter.com/product/600821/Ballistix_Sport_LT_8GB_DDR4-2666_PC4-21300_CL16_Single_Channel_Desktop_Memory_Module_BLS8G4D26BFSBK_-_Gray https://www.microcenter.com/product/510036/TUF_B450-Plus_Gaming_AM4_ATX_AMD_Motherboard https://www.microcenter.com/product/505628/Ryzen_5_2600_34GHz_6_Core_AM4_Boxed_Processor_with_Wraith_Stealth_Cooler

Whelp, got an email from microcenter after reserving my parts, they actually don't have the mobo in stock, so still looking.
