i got this board on release and i use the rear optical for a soundbar and the rear usb for headphones. i feel like i’m underutilizing this boards audio potential. is the nu audio implemented the same as the standalone sound card? and if not, to what degree does it work and how do I use it? anything analog I’ve plugged in uses the realtek setup and if the sound is way better once nu audio is working, i’ll drop my wireless usb headphones and get some good analog ones.

any help is greatly appreciated!

    On the FTW Motherboard.
    EVGA NU Audio
EVGA NU Audio is a second and more powerful audio output available on the EVGA Z390 FTW motherboard. Utilizing the more powerful headphone/speaker amp on the Z390 FTW, NU Audio can drive up to 600ohm headphones, as well as providing the ideal sound for every type of audio experience. The NU Audio application features a user-friendly GUI to easily and quickly adjust settings or use a preset to jump right into the action.
NU Audio is designed to work with 2.0 or 2.1 channel audio, such as headphones or speakers with or without a subwoofer. The headphones/speakers must be connected via an analog audio jack; headphones or speakers using an USB connector will not work with NU Audio. Within the NU audio GUI, you can add virtualization and EQ options by adjusting the settings. However, if you wish to use 5.1 channel audio, you must select 5.1 in the Realtek HD Audio Manager and use the output ports located on the I/O Panel of the motherboard (Page 12, Component 7).
Note: While the NU Audio exists separately from the Realtek HD Audio, some system requirements, settings, and features crossover due to shared Windows audio resources. As a result, some changes made in the Realtek HD Audio Manager will have an effect on the audio output through NU Audio.
    To use NU Audio:
    1. Install the EVGA Z390 FTW motherboard, including the cable to your Front Panel Audio Header (Page 10, component 22)
    2. Install the Realtek HD Audio driver, included on the USB Flash drive with your motherboard
    3. Install the "NU Audio" driver and launch the NU Audio application
    4. Attach your headphones or speakers to the front panel headphone/speaker jack on your case or bay device.
    5. Confirm that the Windows Playback default device is set to the Realtek High Definition Audio.

new question: i’ve been seeing the nu software around that looks like precision x1, but all i’ve got is a small round little interface with very few options. it basically sucks. I can’t control the volume of the headphone amp like the nu audio gui and I have to use the windows volume alone for everything. even fully cranked with my beyer 990pro 250ohm the volume is largely underwhelming. going into realtek and turning on loudness will bring up a lot of game volume, but it squashes all dynamics, blasts the high end into ear icepicks, and really lowers the volume of music.

can the nu audio gui be downloaded separately and used for the z390ftw board?

You are lucky you can hook your front audio up. Because of the 90 degree downward header, I can't plug mine in, not enough room because of the PSU
