his old machine was inherited, and I'd like to have dual monitors for multitasking while programming to replace my current setup of a Macbook Pro with an extra monitor, which is a bit cumbersome.Specs: HP desktop w/Windows 7; Core 2 Duo; 8gb ram; motherboard with 3 pci slots; updated power supply: up to 360 watts-ish.Question1: Will the EVGA GT 710 2GB   DDR3 64bit single Slot, Low Profile 02G-P3-2713-KR be a suitable graphics card for my needs?Question 2: This question is perhaps tangential; however, should I even bother with upgrading this old PC? In other words, is this going to help me with productivity, or will Windows 7 and the old processor keep me from accessing current software. I realize that this second question doesn't really pertain to this thread.Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you!

Might want to ask HP what their BIOS will support
check to see if that PSU has any PCIe power connectors - if you select a GPU that needs one

newer GPU can add improved function to an Old PC.

The 2 GB GRAM is the limiting factor on those GPU.  Your planning on 1080p display ?

Replacing the Mechanical hard drive with an SSD will make a huge difference in the feel of the PC - you can See the difference

8 GB RAM is functional

Check the minimum specs for any software your concerned about

I still use Win 7 Pro on several PCs
