CPU temp is 50-60, nothing out of the ordinary.

50 - 60 C is not bad for a CPU if its under load

Usually the MB BIOS has the ability to set MB fans based on hardware temps or fixed RPM

I have no idea what the Mac has to offer in BIOS

I've also never had the opportunity to use a venuz manitz egpu enclosure - this may also present some issues

This connects by Thunderbolt ?

Well 50-60 for a processor at 0,8 ghz is what i would expect. :p

Macbook pro´s dont have a bios like a normal computer unfortunatly.

The Venuz is connected by a thunderbolt cable, yes.

The problem is the processor is basically stuck at a core frequency of 0,8 ghz. :(

Hmm.

Make sure your macbook pro is plugged into the wall via ac cable, and make sure windows power options is set to high performance.

I doubt the cpu has anything to do with your gpu scores when benchmarking, what year macbook are you using? Almost 90% of the time its gpu bound. You are using a macbook with a laptop processor, but otherwise if it was cpu related, temps and stability which you monitor would be off and would make you crash or something it would be noticable. Answering BC or COOL about how you run your setup would be a good start. Plus what you are trying to do is crappy with apple. Probably made a partition on boot camp and using windows that way to game. Dota2 is on steam. So you had to have done that. Youre probably using the thunderbolt 3 connection? Ive tried the same thing, lets just say I wound up building a pc from scratch and couldnt be happier, keep in mind i built a hackintosh first with a vega gpu and still... It worked but not the way i wanted it to. Performance is not there cause it just not meant to do that. Thats why people dont game on mac.. Seems you got a nice screen, and the apple macbook. Plus using px1 and msi ab is tricky. Stick with one before you go switching, and just stay with one benchmarking tool till you figure it out and get it running right. One setting in bios or nvidia control or in game settings can mess up your gpu performance. It can only be so many things, and even then you have evga warranty so no worries. Not bashing apple, but deals be coming in fall, look into them for pc.

The thing is the setup worked great for a few months. I actually was super happy with it. Of course it does not have the same power as a real dekstop system but well i travel a lot and it was pretty nice to take my macbook with me and when i got home just put one cable and i can play even the latest games and swich very easy between mac os and windows. Also i work from home and need mac os, so for me it makes a lot of sense this way. I really hope apple will support this more but well unfortunatly they suck more evey year.

And yes, the 2080 ti is still way overpowered for my current setup. My orignal plan was a desktop pc sometime later this year but if i get it fixed i dont really need it.

By the way this was my first benchmark result when it worked in heaven 3440*1440: https://imgur.com/kbGlO0Z (95 average fps)

For the problem:
I am pretty sure its the cpu. (sensor issue or fan issue or dirt, cyprus where i live at the moment is super dusty)

The last hours i did a lot of tests under windows and mac os. Basically if the computer is freshly started i can play for around 30 seconds with 100+fps.
While monitoring i can see the that my framerate goes down the same time as my cpu starts clocking only at 800mhz. Before up to 3,6 ghz.

I can also do the same with just doing a cpu benchmark. After a few seconds the temp spikes to 80 degrees (only visible in monitoring) and then instantly changes to around 60 and stays there. (clock at 800mhz) After that it only rarly changes back and if only for 1-2 seconds.

Under Mac OS, when benchmarking the cpu spikes instantly into the 90 range and stays there but the fans dont go max speed. It is very strange.

You might have thermal throttling going on.

I hear you man, gotta do what you gotta do. And it probably could be the cpu which is causing something. Maybe you were lucky the first month and now you finally stressed out the cpu. But i dont know if directly correlates to the gpu. So I must have missed the part where you put the macbook specs down sorry about that. Well you have a 4 core with 16g ddr3 and your doing some major things with that laptop and everyone is telling me you need a 9900k to really pair with this card. Why i didnt think its the cpu is because i have a 8700k on a z370 mb with 16g 3200 16cl memory. When playing wow for example (almost intense like dota i would say), at 1080p in the town of Dolanaar the total cpu usage % is high 20's low 30's while walking around and not using ustilizing all the memory. Checking now as we speak, windowed mode. Everything is stock settings cpu (except for xmp profile for memory) and gpu since im using a 1080p tv to check. I would try not using the monitor or using 1080p to see if anything changes. Your trying to push 3440x1440 right? Thought cpu had nothing to do with pushing that res out but yeah it could be spent if you cant run a cpu bench properly and you have fan issues. Sorry bout the situation good luck.

Ok i got it, in case anyone ever has the same problem. It is just dirt. I cleaned my slits for airflow as good as i could with a toothpick, used a vacuum cleaner and it got much better. Need to buy a special screwdriver tomorrow to get into the macbook pro and clean everything right. :)

It is a strange problem because it does not overheat but goes down to 800 mhz right away. Thanks everyone for helping.

It was thermal throttling because of the lack of air flow.  Glad it's working again.

Thermal throttling without hitting tjmax? Hmm. Ok.

Ok smarty.  What is it that caused the down clocking even though once the OP cleared out the dust/debris is when it went back to normal?  Why don't you respond professionally as a forum moderator to what you think happened instead of responding immaturely.

Why were the clocks throttling down?  Does it have a air flow sensor that we don't know about?  One and only thing that comes to mind is thermals, especially when the air flow improves and the issue(s) goes away means it must've have lacked airflow and when you lack air flow to a laptop/PC, what happens?  Things will start overheating/throttling and what have you.

Don't know. He said things got much better. As far as we know all he could be talking about is his temps since he said he seen them in the 80-90 range which is ok for a laptop as long as he isn't hitting the tjmax which would cause throttling.

btw i had an old macbook pro that i played some relatively boring 3D games on but it'd still scream when i did. I used https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/23049/smcfancontrol to control the fan speed on the CPU and it worked pretty well. hope this helps!
