Excitement is good but lining up to buy seems a bit fan-boyish. I am glad to see AMD doing good but I don’t think fanboys will help. Hopefully we see rational people who can see both Intel and AMD both have pro and cons.

Hey if people can line up outside microcenter for new Nvidia releases, why not CPUs?

    Indeed.
I am just glad i went and got my new parts when i did, sales for the 3000 series seems to be going hot.
Good times for AMD, good times.
Note i am not a fanboy, i just know a good deal when i see it.
saw my Microcenter was bundling some x570 motherboards with the 3000 series processors, got my Asus Prime Pro X570 $50 off its MSRP.
I was planning on getting Zen 2 as while i was doing okay with my 1700 I did see Gamers nexus take a stab at it and his video convinced me to buy on launch day.
Worth every penny as by Cthulu, i feel like I am on the moon now!
My 1700 while actually not too shabby was still not the best in gaming, Rise of the Tomb raider especially which gave me some issues.
And it was not just one game, a few did not do too well under my 1700.
But the 3600 sure as heck runs circles around it, I could have skipped on X570 and got a better motherboard than my Asrock AB350 like the MSI B450 Tomohawk but when I saw the deal on this motherboard i could not refuse as i had a max $200 budget on the motherboard (plus taxes and replacement period)

Ever since these Zen 2 rumors, I've been stuck on deciding the path I'd take; with Microsoft ending support with Windows 7 by this January 2020, it's expedite.

I'd rather go back to HEDT, so it's Castle Peak versus Intel's response; if the latter isn't worth talking about, I suspect AMD will crank up the price, like they did with 3950X (lame).

For Intel processors, 0.122 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].

Ya I suspect 3rd Gen Threadripper won't be cheap.... probably Intel HEDT prices, just with twice the cores. Of course 2nd Gen Threadripper will be very cheap if wanting a cheaper but still really good HEDT platform. The 16 core 2950x is $599 at microcenter right now and will only come down more over time.

I totally agree that Apple is a trillion dollar company backed by fan boys but that really doesn't mean they can convince anyone to buy a MacBook Air. I was more meaning in general the people who would wait in line to get the first ones at launch are normally not the people who consider Intel a good option and will trash anyone who talks positive about Intel. When that happens people just start to tune out anything positive they have to say about AMD and it doesn't help win new supporters.

That is awesome that the hype for AMD Ryzen 3000 series is strong! The desktop computer market is still alive! Do not worry Micro Center, Best Buy and other retailers will restock. I will definitely be upgrading to AMD Ryzen 3000 series when I can afford it. AMD and Nvidia have both released their latest processors and graphics cards. This means all the parts are available! However, these prices are sky high. Waiting might actually be a good thing, for me at least.

So long as there is hype for AMD Intel should hopefully begin to lower prices on their own CPUs. Everybody benefits.

And they're gonna line up for the 3950x too.  The first 10 people that wanted the 3900X, in line, got one even before the store opened.

Yeah but you got to admit AMD is now something great, sure yes AMD isnt perfect but its competition again and there is no more excuses for Intel to charge you an arm and a leg for a 8 core processor anymore.
Hell its made 6 core mainstream which is a good thing, more optimization for multicore/multithread as well.
Even if you have a alter to intel and pray to the great god of Intel every night this is a good thing.
I do hope intel will lower prices because of this, keeps AMD from being complacent.

Yeah, a cpu which is from 2014, and that I've had for years now.

Oh, so a $1500 CPU if accounting for inflation. ... just joking.

I wonder stock to stock how the $1000 CPU compares to the $500 CPU.

Don't know, and don't care really as I have no plans to run my cpu at stock.

Maybe this is the start of a trend for the processor launches and releases? It is great to see the support for AMD. I wonder what the launch looks like for AMD Ryzen 3950 in September 2019?
