So one of my fans is bad, it keeps going back and forth and not spinning. I looked no dirt and I feel no resistance when pushing with my finger. I called EVGA cs was told that they don't offer out of warranty repairs anymore. Can anyone point me to what is the proper fan replacement ? Would this work

Description says acx 2.0 not 2.0+ so not sure if it is the same. Also would replacing the fan fix this ? I can't put aftermarket cooling cause there is no room in the case for it.

Fan twitching (going back and forth) is normal on your card..Your card has 0db fans that won't normally turn on until 60C unless overridden by software such as EVGA Precision XOC.
 
You can Create Fan Curves or run the fans manually with Precision XOC and see if they respond and operate properly.
 
I don't know if you knew that or tried it because you didn't say, but there it is.

So the fan twitching all the time, it never actually starts to spin. I tried afterburner and xoc. Whenever I try to adjust fan speed no matter what % one fan will go to 100% it seems and the other still twitching. This whenever I adjust speed manually. Then the fan that is going 100% won't stop until I shut computer down, even after restart. The GPU temp itself is not hot. So if I run something graphic intensive and one fan going to the max the other won't spin. If I go back to desktop even after just 1 minute fan will not slow down at all. I doubt it's designed where only 1 fan spins max speed and other is twitching , that's why I think it's busted. I tried it on 2 different systems same result.  What prompt me to look in first place is the fan was extremely loud and did not respond to manual settings at all. I am guess that one fan is trying to compensate for the other and for some reason it cannot slow down after wards, that's why system stays loud.

I had this card for a while and never really had any issues with it. I ran it on Win 7. I decided to move to a different build with Win 10. I previously had 970 in that build, I removed it wiped drivers with DDU and installed drivers fresh for 980ti.

Now I have an issue that the FAN seems to be blowing max all the time. The temp is reporting about 48C. I turn on computer fresh the card is quiet, but I start anything intensive it goes in overdrive. I can then quit and the won't shut up, temp still reporting less than 50C, even if I restart the computer.

MSI afterburner doesn't seem to be able to control the FAN at all , I manually set it to 25% and no audible difference. I can actually start computer fresh the GPU quiet then start afterburner move the fan slider slightly in any direction and the fan will start blowing to the max.

If I uninstall the drivers while it's blowing to the max it will quiet down right away.

I tried the newest nvidia drivers, also tried older ones as well, they all behave the same.

Anyone any ideas what could be going on ? To emphasize the card doesn't seem to get hot at any point before fan kicks in overdrive.

Sounds like maybe the global settings in the nvidia control center and your windows power settings are having some type of conflict with each other. Are you using power saving features? Are you using a multi monitor setup or high refresh rate monitor?

So I ordered the the fans and they don't fit , they are slightly too big. EVGA has been zero help basically told me to ****. I can't find those fans anywhere. EVGA won't provide spare parts, they won't fix the card either. Word of warning , if you evga gpu is out of warranty (mine is a little over 6 months over) you are on your own cause they won't give a damn. I don't know about other manufactures, could be the same, but this is terrible customer service and definitely will not be buying another EVGA product again. I expected better for a GPU that at the time cost over $600. The only alternative I have is buy a broken 980ti and hope for the best with fan replacement.

I could try one of those, they may fit. At this point though I am not even sure if this is a fan problem or something else. That one fan is not technically dead, it twitches. i am not sure I get new pair and it won't be twitching either. This could be something wrong with a card itself. But I guess I won't know unless I waste $20.

This is neverending nightmare. On top of it i got this upgrade offer email for 980ti owners from evga. I wish it was month earlier before I took my GPU apart 5 times, cause I would take that measly $150 for it.

At least you now have new Fans.
Just cut the cables off the Older Fans and Splice the Wires.

We do not recommend doing this at all.
