Hello,

I'm at my wits end trying to get hard drives installed on my Z370 FTW. I installed windows on a Intel 600P M.2 512GB(GTP format), everything works fine. Trying to install a samsung evo 840evo and a 4tb physical drive. neither of the drives are recognized in bios or in disk management. I've tried a variety of bios settings recommended in various forum threads with no luck(Literally any combo I could change relating to ASCI, legacy, ect.) I have taken each drive to another computer and formatted them and they work perfectly. brought them back to this computer plugged them into multiple sata ports with multiple different sata cables with no luck. I updated the Samsung 840evo's firmware using disk magician on another computer.

EVGA 134-ks-e377, i5 8600k, Ripjaws V 16GB DDR4-3200 PC4-25600, Intel 600p 512gb, evga 1070.

What am I missing here?

Welcome to the Forum.
What are your Bios Settings for this Drive and What Port is it connected to on the Motherboard?
Review the Manual about what Ports are disabled when you install a M.2 Drive.
Page 23
M.2 Slot Breakdown M.2 Lane Distribution

M.2 Key-M (80mm, Top) – x4 (Shares with SATA Port 0/1)
o M.2 Enable/Disable is set within the BIOS

M.2 Key-M (80mm, Bottom) – x4 (Shares with SATA Port 4/5)
o M.2 Enable/Disable is set within the BIOS

M.2 Key-E (32mm) – x1 (Shares with PE3)
o M.2 Enable/Disable is set within the BIOS

That was it. I had all three M.2 slots enabled which was disabling all the sata ports.

Thank you very much!

I like my z370FTW too. I had to use a M2 adaptor for my NVME Samsung drive it is 110mm, too long for the onboard slot.
i7-8086k, EVGA1080Ti, Samsung PM961 OEM 960gb NVME,  Board seems to be very stable. I have another one with an i5-8600k.
