I took the plunge and now am downloading the latest Win 10, May edition (v1903). I'm hoping the audio issues (pointed out in the May 2019 issues ) do not apply to us with the Nu Audio platform.

If they do, please let us know what you're experiencing so that we can look into it.

I bought your nu audio card and experienced background noise like a hum or hiss every time the gpu got to working so pretty much anytime I played a game.

Please start a new thread and list your full system specs so people can help to figure out what is causing the issue

What am I missing here?  Currently have 5.1 sound setup with ASUS X299 Prime MB with  Realtec S1220A 8 channel chip... I downloaded the sound bite and the Nu-Audio does not sound any different than my current setup...???

BTW,  My soundcard often does not appear in the audio control panel but then it appears after a restart the computer.  Has anyone noticed this too?

Under what circumstances?  Leaving an app, waking from sleep, etc.?

After this update my card is suffering from horrible distortion. Its almost unusable. The clipping is driving me nuts. After each update it seems the card gets worse. Went back to 1.0.0.0.1 or whatever the first driver was.

I had the EVGA Nu Audio for about 2 days before I returned it. It was picking up interference in my computer I have previously owned a Creative AE-5 that did not pick up any interference. As soon as I would go to play a game with the EVGA Nu Audio in my system and the GPU got working there was a low but very audible hum coming through my headphones.

Is there anyway to stop the Nu Audio application from opening on my desktop every time I restart?

Um...how do I put this? My bro reinstalled the older driver telling me that music wasn't sounding like he was used to as if some sort of "volume limit" as he put it was being applied. I went back and forth between our PCs and there's definitely some sort of difference of sound like the gain is going up and down at certain points. I verified that all the settings are off and the filters were set to the default. I wonder if it has something to do with that new Nahimic software that got incorporated. I mean it still sounds fine to me but this difference is sorta bugging me because I'm a silly nitpicker. Do you guys hear anything different?

What application/applications are being used to play music, and is he using regular speakers, ASIO, WASAPI, etc.?  If the Nahimic features were causing it, I would check to see if he is using the Compressor (which has the function of limiting the dynamic range you described), and either turn it off, or turn off the Audio Effects for output.

We both use Foobar2000 and we don't have any plugins that affect sound quality. Also verified that compressor and any other DSP is off. He's been using his Mrspeakers Aeon Flow (Closed back). ASIO settings are default.

Sorry to nitpick, but when you say ASIO settings are default, do you mean that the ASIO plugin is installed in foobar and the output option is set to one of the ASIO options?

It's just the driver back...that should be 0.1.2.7 right?

I meant ASIO settings as in the Nu Audio's "Advanced" tab. Neither of us have ASIO plugins in Foobar2000.

Any plans to release a Linux driver? Kodi on Linux just sounds better than on Windows.

Since I didn't get a response I guess it's not happening. Can I install the driver on Windows Server 2012 R2? Testing out the sound quality vs Windows 10.

Re: NU Audio Driver Release v0.2.0.4 (Win10) [Nahimic 3D Audio for Gamers + More] 2019/06/28 09:46:58 (permalink)
IN order to play games in 5.1 with this card it is apparent that Dolby Digital Live / DTS Live must be supported which is the only option for this card due to NO 5.1 analog outputs. Pass Thru only works with actual content already encoded in 5.1 like movies. While advertised as a gaming Sound card I consider it subpar at this point for NOT supporting True 5.1 gaming surround. I was actually getting ready to order 2 of these cards to replace my SB-Z and SB Omni due to Creatives newest card has no DTS/DDL support. Now I realized NO Dolby Digital Live Support either on this card (got excited too quickly) This seems to be a pattern for some reason just like Realtek not supporting DDL/DTS Live either on their newest drivers (unless you get a modded version of the drivers, works great) The fact there is no 5.1 analog option for Realtime surround gaming on this card would make it a must to add support for DDL/DTS, not just pass-thru. Most titles today and even Legacy titles have 5.1 support... such a shame a card at this price level currently can't support true surround gaming. Obviously if I want just high end stereo sound and recording I will stick to external DAC. I'm sure this card is fine for just stereo gaming and music for people who don't care about surround sound, however I was really looking forward to an all in one gaming surround, movie surround, music surround, with high end specs solution other than creative. I suspect though it boils down to not wanting to pay for DDL/DTS license fee's to increase profits perhaps. Should those options be added in the future I will consider getting this card or maybe a newer model perhaps in the future but until then suffer with what I have for now.

Nahimic 3D: This being advertised as Virtual Surround is an after thought... Virtual surround translates to simulated surround.. its fake and not immersive as the real thing... Like trying to Simulate creatives EAX with just 2 channel output (most games output at 5.1 which are being down converted to 2 channel with this card) With the advent of new Surround systems continuing to come out with more advanced receivers, 7.1 or 7.2  all in one speaker systems, Dolby Atmos, and Real 3D sound. This is the same Software that's included with MSI MB  onboard sound which happens to have more options and control due to having 5.1 analog output but for NU AUDIO just simulated. This card should not have been marketed as a gaming card but for audio purest (stereo) internal sound DAC, PCM audio and 5.1 now only pass-thru. If you look at the reviews about Nahimic and even the MS Store a lot of issues, maybe they will get better eventually but my experience trying it out multiple times since 2017 no real change but I guess when your used to REAL 3D Surround Gaming the fake stuff just sounds like crap. This card definitely has potential and would hope they will consider adding DDL/DTS Live support if possible.

It may be late, but...last week I was having issues with my Nu Audio. I couldn't get sound out of it even after multiple restarts. I would have reinstalled the drivers but I wound up too busy to do that. That is until yesterday where before I could reinstall the driver I ended up installing the latest Windows 10 update to build 1903. And just like that...everything just worked. Oh, and that weird compressor issue I mentioned earlier was gone too, so it must have been some Windows DSP thing in the background.

I'm having some issues with getting the audio app to open. I reinstalled my motherboard drivers and noticed that there was no audio after I did a restart nor will the app open. So I uninstalled the Nu driver and software and deleted the nu audio folder but first had to end the nahimic services in the task manager to be able to delete the nu folders. After reinstalling the newest NU drivers I still didn't have audio and the app wouldn't open. Did the whole uninstallation process and installed the older version 1.2.3 and now I get audio and the app opens but when I updated the driver to the 2.0.4 the nu audio app again won't open. Did the whole uninstall again and installed the 2.0.4 and again the app won't open. So now I uninstalled again and installed 1.2.3 and now it works fine. What do I need to do to get 2.0.4 to work properly?

Well I figured out how to get this darn app to open when you click on it.  Instead of installing the driver/software into the default folder (program files x86) I chose to install it elsewhere and in my case C:\NU Audio Card
After install was complete I clicked on the Nu Audio App and it opened right up!!!  Every other file version installs and opens up but this version 2.0.4 won't for some reason.  What a pain in the arse this was.
