GTX 1060 fan not spinning

I noticed the fan on my GTX 1060 3GB was not spinning at boot.
 
Not a big problem but I am more acclimated to having video card fans running to move air around.
After what happened to my old 8600 GT with 196.75 I am very concerned when the fan is not spinning.
 
 
I enabled a custom fan with MSI Afterburner and now the card fan spins fine.
 
Does EVGA use a zero fan like my Corsair AX860i does?

  


Corsair Obsidian 750D Airflow Edition + Corsair AX1600i PSU
My desktop uses the ThinkVision 31.5 inch P32p-20 Monitor.
My sound system is the Edifier B1700BT

    That's affirmative..0dB fan operation up until 60C GPU temp..I think it used to be 60C anyway, you can load it up and find out.

    after popping all the caps on my old 8600 GT I am too hinked up to want to gamble, even if EVGA will replace the card, it still costs me $ to send it back

    I consider the 0db feature almost mandatory on GPUs and I love the fact that my 1060 has it, but if that's not your thing you can easily come up with your own fan curve using EVGA's software.

    I have my fan now running at 35% which is enough to keep the idle card cool and the machine also has a slight benefit.
     
    EVGA uses ball bearing fans so they are adequately durable.

    Hello veganfanatic,
     
    When it comes to cards EVGA graphics cards from 900 series and above they have a feature where the fans will not kick in until the cards hit temperatures between 60 and 65°C. We would suggest using our software Precision X OC if you continue to run into issues with that software.

    I am using my card at stock settings, I enabled a custom fan with MSI Afterburner after 196.75 did so much damage. I have a MSI motherboard and it has been a beacon of stability.
     
    I got a GTX 260 with a blower fan, and ran that fan at max all the time out of fear.
     
    The GTX 660 Ti with dual fans was very good and it lasted until I got the GTX 750 and more recently the GTX 1060.
     
    I want my video card to last unlike my 8600 GT which was destroyed along with a motherboard etc thanks in part to Teapo caps and nVidia
