I placed a link to a YouTube video in my forum signature. Somehow doing so is "Hotlinking" and conflicts with rules about "Copyright Protected Materials". So, literally, no place is safe to post links. Rubbish.

Aaahhh... so it was because it was in your signature, which is kinda static, and not the same as a thread, which would be one time use. Correct?!?!? No?!?! That is very strange. Youtube is a website to share videos, every video has a button to share it. You didn't link to a private video that a company sells access to.
Hotlinking - Do not post material where you do not have permission to distribute it electronically or otherwise. This includes posting images directly from a website. Images are to be hosted personally or by a third party host.

The same video is linked in my signature. I responded to his PM, said he was wrong, and put the link back in my signature. He did not remove it a second time. The key here is "Mr. Hurt Feelings" is a forum user here who complained to someone and convinced him to come up with a strange way to find it to be a violation.

I believe it previously said something along the lines of; "Save 30% Off using my EVGA Associates Program Code" but was linked to the troll video, so I'm not all that surprised EVGA took exception to it. That is not quite the same as what you have now lol. Classic video though, better than Rick Astley imho.
