guys, my main psu is on the way to get repaired, so i`m using a backup from my friend, the one getting repaired is a rm850 from corsair, very good psu, and the one that i have right now is one from zalman zm500le, i know its not the ideal but its what i got, so, the rm850 have 2 cables with 6+2 pin to connect on my GTX 1070, and the zalman has only 1 6+2 and one with 6 pins only, so, can i use the adapter that i got with the 1070? i have two adapters with 2 female 6 pin to 1 male 8 pin, can i use it to connect my gpu to my sistem, like using one adapter to connect the 6 pin from the psu on one female slot of the adapter and leaving the other slot empty, and then conecting the male 8 pin on the gpu, and the other 6+2 pin cable that my psu already have, just plug it in.
i saw on a website that the 1070 uses 150Watts of energy, the PCI conector on the mother board gives 75 w, the connector with 6 pins gives 75w too, and the 8 pin provides 150, so energy should not be a problem, and i`m pretty sure that the power suply can hold my 1070, i will list my setup below:
i7 7700 4.0 ghz turbo mode
2x8 hyperx ram 2400mhz
h270 prime plus
1HD 1tb
1HD 500g
1ssd 120g
6 fans(3x120mm/3x140mm)
and my 1070 that at this moment is unpluged for safety reasons.
i will probably use the 1070 with that zm500 power supply for 2weeks, 3 at max.
should i wait and use the pc without GPU or is it a safe move use the gpu with the adapter like i mentioned?
