Greetings all,
Recently I've been playing some games including Metro Exodus and my card maxed on 81C-82C! Do I have a faulty card?
I'm using GTX1080Ti FTW3 DT model

No it is under the Max allowed
We need more information to help you try to get a lower temp -- Is this a new issue ?
Room Temp ?
GPU fan Speeds ?
OC settings ?
Nvidia Driver ?
What were you playing for how long ?
Case
Fans - number size speed % they are running @ - They blow In or Out

No. See Why does my EVGA graphics card run hot? in the EVGA FAQs for more information, and note that the Maximum GPU Temperature (in C) for a GTX 1080Ti GPU chip is 91. You also can/should set custom fan curves in Precision XOC or Precision X1 to help keep GPU/Power/Memory temps down.

What were you playing for how long - Metro Exodus for maybe 40mins - 1h
Case - Phanteks Evolv ATX TG
Fans - Two 140's on X62 on the front (intake), one 120 on top(exhaust), one 120 at the rear(exhaust)
MB - X Hero
CPU - 8700K

My son had the stock 1080ti cooler with temperatures of 81-84. I fitted one of those artic accelero iv coolers about a week ago and it doesnt even go above 45 degrees now. He was experiencing problems running some games but now it runs great. Defo one to think about if your capable of doing it.

I don't know man, I wouldn't bother with Accelero right now. I simply don't have so much time. Now I'm using this custom fan profile and we will see...

I don't know man, I wouldn't bother with Accelero right now. I simply don't have so much time.

Depending upon your case air flow...etc etc... The GPU's is designed by default to run at ~80C with its default fan profile. If you have decent case air flow you may see lower temps. But, those are normal operating temps. If you're seeing those temps at 50% fan speed, you should be able to lower your temps. The trade off being more noise of course. Also having warm air as intake with a rad, is not helping your GPU temps. The air inside your case is what is cooling the GPU.

Hopefull that will help lots.
And just FYI, you can add fan setpoints by clicking on the curve line..You can delete setpoints by clicking to highlight them and pressing the keyboard Del key..You can change the curve to steppings and vice-versa by double-clicking in a blank area of the Fan Curve Editor..You can move setpoints incrementally by clicking to highlight them and use keyboard Up/Down/Left/Right arrow keys instead of dragging them.
You can keep the setpoints how you have them now or make them more aggressive..I see you don't have 100% fan speed until 90C..You might also think about changing the Fan Speed Update Period from 5000ms (5 seconds) to something more responsive, like 1000ms (1 second).
Also know that some changes made in PXOC won't stick (get written the the .cfg files) unless you close PXOC after making them..So it's just a good idea to close PXOC after making any changes whatsoever and make sure they remain when PXOC opens again.

If someone liquid cooling GPU or CPU I would say GPU.
No matter AIO or Custom loop I would rather put Noctua on CPU OC him 300MHz less and play games below 55-60C with Liquid Cooling.
Example my system now, I don't need more than 4.2GHz, that could give me NH-U9.
Buy gaming on temperatures low enough to avoid boost clock to be lower I need AIO or Liquid Cooling.
And if you build for one then it's normal for CPU and GPU.
GTX1080Ti FTW Hybrid no such high temperatures.

Hey I have a similar question if anyone may be of help. 1080ti ftw3 elite. I have a coolermaster h500 work 3 exhaust fans two top one back. Custom dan curve on the card very aggressive. Maxed out power and temp sliders. And +10 to the core is all. Well in games like battlefield v in 1440p 144hz I see around 68-72 But I recently started the Witcher 3 in 4k on another monitor and I was playing last night and for about 45 min I was around 75c but around a hour or more it steadily rose to 91c and started throttlinG. Seems cut scenes are brutal to temp more so than playing. My case has awesome air flow with the 2 200mm intake fans and mesh front. Once it was hitting 90c I removed the side panel and let it run some more but it stayed pegged up at 90-91. I think it did this in another game. The hunter call of the wild. Will test that again tonight. But In other games I don’t think this happens. Any thoughts? Never wanted to watercool but this is making me super mad! I’ve done everything right as far as fans and providing a good case for air flow and it’s in my basement which I would guess is around 68f let me know your thoughts.
