Hi all,

Does anyone know what is the output impedance of this unit?

Also, what is the output power (mW) and Voltage (Vrms) into a 600 ohms impedance?

I don't know if I'm asking this next question correctly, but having Line out as well as Headphones out, this means we can connect our non-powered speakers and headphones at the same time right? Do the speakers get muted when the headphones are connected or is sound output to both at the same time?

Thanks!

The ADI OP275 appears to have less than 1 ohm output impedance.

EVGA's product marketing says "a small fraction of an ohm"..

Not impressed as it does not have 5.1 surround sound and no USB connection for USB headphones.

... and no USB connection for USB headphones.

A sound card with a USB connection so that people can plug USB headphones into it? USB headphones have their own built-in sound chip/DAC. Makes a lot of sense. (sarcasm!) About as much sense as an expensive sound card with expensive analog stuff having a digital passthrough. (or people buying the Nu Audio card and using the digital passthrough for some reason!)

I'm a little confused by the software, is the smaller "Headphone" adjustment the Amp? If so why is the interface just showing me % and not power I'm feeding my headphones?

From the manual
Volume Control for Headphones – This slider independently controls the volume through the analogheadphone amp. Although the Master Volume controls the output level for the system (i.e. volume inOS), the Volume Control for Headphones increases and decreases the power to the headphoneOP-AMP. (a) This setting is similar to a Headphone Gain selector. At 100% the headphone volume is set for 600ohm impedance. At approximately 42%, the headphone volume is set for 250ohm impedance. At approximately 5%, the headphone volume is set for 32ohm. (b) For best practices, we suggest that you manually set the Headphone volume to the rated impedance of your headphones and adjust the volume through the Master Volume. (c) If you do not know the rated impedance of your headphones, begin by taking off your headphones, turn the Master Volume to 100%, and the Headphone Volume to 0%. Play some audio to make sure that you can hear audio, and put your headphones on only if the audio is too low or at a comfortable level. Continue listening and slowly raise the Headphone Volume until theaudio is at your optimal listening volume. Please be careful when setting the Headphone Volume;setting the Headphone Volume too high for an extended period of time can damage headphonesrated for a lower impedance. Always lower the Headphone Volume when trying a different pair of head phones.

so pushing the headphone volume past about 6-8% would be putting too much ohms to my hd 598? rated at 50 ohm but everything is so quiet at that point even with master set to 100%

will setting it higher for longer periods really damage my headphones? need it around at least 40% with master at 100 for siege so i can hear everything.

This is the issue I'm having with my HyperX Cloud's. 60 ohm. I have to set headphones to 30-40% and windows volume to 75% to not get clipping and to have the game loud enough. I'm going to get different headphones and try something else.

I just installed this card yesterday and have been gaming and listening to music with the amp set anywhere from  40 to 60 and my 598s seem fine so far. I cant find many options for higher ohm headphones but have my eye on one from the certified headphone list for my next pair. ty for the replies ♥ stay safe ♥

MageSavant
I apologize if this has been addressed but what about DTS and Dolby (especially thru toslink)
Hi there!

Dolby/DTS passthrough support via S/PDIF was added in an earlier driver this month.  Do you have a different question?

Hi sorry to bring this up, i have seen numerous posts stating different things, i use headphones and notice the diff with dolby atmos and dts headphone x, but i also like to game in 5.1, you say that the dolby/dts passthrough support through s/pdif was added but my Logitech z906 isnt telling me that, i know the 5.1 system works as i used a asus pheobus before and when dolby was present the light lights up, but it doesnt seem to make any difference what ever i change i can not get Logitech to acknowledge a dolby signal, firmware 0.32 driver v0.2.1.10(im using this one as the new will not install for me) am i missing something?

regards
