Sorry, but I'm going to suggest using the least problematic software first.

Then so be it.
Don't get this wrong as I do not care what Tool Any Member uses or not uses but when Other Forum Members who use EVGA Tools are tying to help other forum members with PX1 or PXOC issues you are as EVGA are telling forum members to use MSI AB instead of allowing other PX1 or PXOC Users that are trying to help them.

Well in my defense I didn't tell the user to dump px1 for afterburner. I just asked the op if he experienced the same issue with afterburner.

Maybe not in this thread but other thread you have.

Suggesting afterburner over px1 doesn't mean I'm telling the user to dump px1. I have never once said "hey, just dump px1 and only use afterburner."

MSI Afterburner is always asking for Admin and triggering UAC when it's started, so that seems to be why it is not affected. For automatically applying the settings during Windows startup, it creates a task in Windows Task Scheduler to "run with highest privileges" on user log on. Maybe PX1 should just copy this behavior. ;)

You can Create a Basic Task for PX1 and Run with highest privileges to see if it matters..But that will override 'Start with OS' and run PX1 even if 'Start with OS' in the PX1 Settings is disabled, so you'd need to disable it in Task Scheduler if/when you don't want it to run..Seems that EVGA made PX1 to run as an App and not a Task like MSI AB.

For things that annoy you with UAC prompts you can use UAC Pass which works real good for me.

That'll give you something to monkey around with and see what happens if you want to.

That's all I can say about it.

This isn’t the place to spat about which Overclocking application is better or worse. Both applications respectively have their merit and flaws as do each company.

On a troubleshooting front if your trying to determine if the issue is caused by the card itself or the issue is caused by the overclocking application the recommendation of trying another third application is perfectly acceptable.

Percision X1 is still a beta with the caveat of having bugs, or other unresolved issues.

Percision XOC is a geforce 10 series specific application now defunct as developent has moved to Percision X1 for 10 series, and 16/20 series cards.

MSI afterburner is a long standing third party overclocking application that has received continuous development for the umbrella of Nvidia & AMD cards.

Evga is at a point where it’s recreating the wheel which unfortunately means developed applications that worked previously may not fully get the bugs worked out. And the new X1 will receive new bugs each iteration. As a customer this is stressful because you just want the product to work, but that takes time and a lot of testing.

In the meantime I don’t believe it’s unreasonable to recommend other third party solutions if current applications cause issues that cannot reasonable be fixed until a undetermined future patch. As a customer who purchased a live product you do not have to be a beta tester. Although I’m sure it’s appreciated for the betterment of the community if you test the application and report bugs.

MSI Afterburner is also still in Beta State, is it not?

Run as administrator solved it for me (For Driver 430.39), but this Driver has other issues.
You should rolled back the Driver.
Drivers are known to cause some issues for some and not for others.

430.39 and PX1 3.12 my power target kept resetting at 100 percent. Installed 3.16 and power setting will not set above 125. All worked well with 3.12 and 419.17.

At least with 3.16 the mV display under the Memory Clock has been removed, for those of us that don't have that sensor to report.

2080 Ti XC Black - should be able to set 135% on Power Target.

Right Click on PX1 and Select Run as administrator and it will work fine.

As posted above in Post #11

Not sure if 3.16 originally had this issue or after I assigned 3.16 to run under administrator, but I noticed PX1 does not start up on its own any more on computer start. You now have to actually open PX1 for the software to start on initial computer power up. My attention to this was when the PX1 splash no longer displayed on system start.

Yes, PX1 settings has PX1 selected to start with Windows but is not working.

0.3.14.0 & 0.3.15.0 had it as well with Driver 430.39. The only other Versions of PX1 I have installed.
I spent most of yesterday testing all this, but in the end it seems to of been a waste of time.
I have been recommending to Not start PX1 with the OS so for me I make sure it is Not Selected in PX1.
IMO it is the New Drivers from NVIDIA with New Security being added and so on.

Starting PX1 with Windows isn't a problem for me. I have a moderately aggressive fan set-up and if PX1 no longer starts with OS then my fans sit idle and my card gets warmer than I want it to get.

Sucks having to continuously monitor every little thing with an "improved" version of PX1.

The LED Settings would Never work for me when I had it start with the OS stating with the First Version Released.
I never use a Fan Profile so I never tested it. I just set the Fan and then the OS Save a Profile and load it after I logon then Exit PX1
It does but then it is part of Beta Testing.
But I think it is just part of doing what we do.

This all applies ONLY to the RTX Cards because I use PXOC on my GTX Cards.

The last good working driver for me was 419.17 and PX1 3.12 Since then my card's performance has dropped. It's still acceptable but looking forward to a new driver. The two drivers between .19 and the latest were pretty bad for me. If the next driver doesn't improve I'll go back to .17 and 3.12.

I was still on 0.3.09.0 and 0.3.11.0 and no need to update at the time.
But then with a new KP Card I need to update so started with 0.3.15.0 and then 0.3.16.0 on the KP Card and went ahead and updated all my RTX Rigs.
I never did give Driver 419.17 a test run and now only on my RTX Rigs I am running Driver 425.31 and seems to be running well.
391.35 & 390.65 on my GTX Rigs. 373.06 for Pre-10xx Cards.

Uh bcavanaugh do you really want to go there? Afterburner is far and I mean far superior to Precision and the software that preceded it. You can't really be making the case that Precision X is on par with Afterburner can you?

And also let me say this, anyone here that thinks EVGA wrote the overclocking scanner is being misled (no surprise) as this code was written by Nvidia and is used in both Afterburner and Precision basically as is.

Hello everyone, i'm a bit late to this topic.  I am having the same problem with Power limit resorting back to 100 everytime I set it to 124 with the latest Nvidia Driver.  (card is 2080ti ftw3)

I set PX1 to run as admin like suggested in the thread.  And now PX1 does not open on its own on startup.
Is there a way to have PX1 open automatically on startup when running as admin with the latest Nvidia drivers ?  Or should I just go back to the previous Nvidia drivers and wait for a PX1 update ?  TIA.

Just to note everything works perfectly if i just stick to 425.31.

Myself I recommend not having PX1 Starting up with the OS.
Change your User Account Control Setting to the Lowest Settings (Full Admin Rights) and see if this works.
Or you can Test This as Well Setting up Precision X1 to Run as administrator, Post Driver 430.39 But I have not this with having the PX1 start with the OS.
When Settings PX1 to Start with the OS it now puts it in the Run Command under Each User Registry Setting.
It was set as a Task to start up under Task Manager, but some had issues and was moved to under Run in the Registry.

Driver 425.31 is also what I recommend for now.

What version of Windows are you guys on?

I'm not having this issue with driver 430.53 and PX1 0.3.16.
While I don't use PX1 to overclock but just to control fans, I just tested changing the Power Limit to max on PX1, applied, and nothing wrong happened, the power limit stays there.

But I'm still on Windows 10 1709, so maybe something is odd between PX1 and the new WDDM 2.6 (that came out on W 1903 / Nvidia 430 branch).

CPU » Intel I7 8700K @ 5Ghz w/ EVGA CLC 280

Displays » Dell S2716DG 27' 144Hz G-Sync (DP) + LG TV 49UJ6525 1080p@120hz (HDMI)
OS » W10 Pro 1709 build 16299.1059

1809 here.
The only issues posted as not being able to change the Power Target and saving the Setting.
This was the only reason for having to run PX1 as an administrator.

So you are saying that if your Run PX1 as an administrator it is NOT working to change the Power Target?
And you are running PX1 0.3.16.0?
Also you are running an EVGA RTX Graphics Card?
But you also might want to create your own Thread is this is the case.

Percision X1 is still a beta with the caveat of having bugs, or other unresolved issues.

Percision XOC is a geforce 10 series specific application now defunct as developent has moved to Percision X1 for 10 series, and 16/20 series cards.

Just thought that I would quote this. If Precision XOC is now defunct and we are this far into the launch of Nvidia 20 series why do we still have a program in BETA as the sole program to run 20 series cards? Shouldn't' this thing be stable by now?

I still run PXOC on all my GTX Cards.

Try closing Precision X1 and running it as administrator, this solved my issue with it.

My full cleanup
This is what I do between Drivers when PX1 stops working.
Uninstall LED Sync then PX1 uninstall all NVIDIA Software and Drivers.
Run DDU in Safe Mode and then install only the Graphics Driver and PhysX Driver.
Do not install PX1 at this time. The Default Color is Blue.

Delete the Folders in Bold
C:\Program Files\EVGA\Precision X1
C:\Program Files (x86)\EVGA
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\EVGA_Co.,_Ltd

Under
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local
Delete File ledConfiguration.config

Under
C:\Windows
Delete File PrecisionX_x64.INI

Delete from Registry *Not MB EVGA Info
EVGA
Precision X1
Vulkan -  ImplicitLayers
Pointer to Precision X1
LED Sync
WinRing0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WinRing0_1_2_0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\WinRing0_1_2_0

Reboot and then install PX1
I recommend not installing LED Sync.

EVGA FAQ

I know this is an old post but I just wanted to say that this fixed my issue where PX1 would just forget my fan curves and set all fans to zero% - resulting in my system rebooting. Happened several times over a few days. This clean install advice has totally fixed my issue. bcavnaugh, thank you so much!
