I thought I should add a little EVGA love to this list.

Sacrificed 3,500 from 3D to add to 2D. Still down with the DARK by about 1,000 with this CPU/Board combo.  The board excels in RAM Benchmarks. Gonna move on from this CPU/Graphics combo.
DARK
8086K running 5.4G @ 1.411
G.SKILL  Royal 4000-17  @4400-17

edit: *Still down 1,000 CPU pts..., not overall, with cpu/board combo^^^
This board with Firmware Updates is much better than I thought and posted about. Could use a little more complex math power. What it lacks there, is made up everywhere else.

Can anyone tell me why this board does not read the real vcore as the Asus XI's series does? In general it has +100mv more than what Asus has.

Apparently I've been told this is not the real vcore shown on this board here?

so if a chip runs on the evga at 1.3v it would ran on the asus at 1.2v

so do you mean if my evga dark on board display shows 1.42 volts, is it actually giving 1.32 volts to the cpu? or if my cpu was on an asus mobo it would need 1.32 volts for the same core clock?

I would guess that probe-it+dmm to determine vcore voltage would answer the question of +100mv. Ill check it out this evening

Because it doesn't?? I have checked my vcore with my multi meter and it is almost spot on. bios set to 1.250v and my meter reads at idle (no load) @ 1.248v... not sure where you heard this from.

I think you are talking about the z370 and z390 difference vcore.

because my first 9900k was 5ghz with 1.312v on the apex z370 and the same chip go lower with the dark mobo ( 5ghz @1.24v)

Asus z390 manages voltage very strangely. If you let the llc on auto the vcore to do a cinebench for example will be lower than a llc7.
If you have a 9900k at 5ghz with 1.216 an let the llc on auto, the voltage will set at 1.18 stable and pass the bench. But if you set manually in the bios this voltage then you will not pass the bench.

also, I have compared my actual chip with anotherone with the same chip and a Gene, and his cpu consume 241watts but mine 180watts ( same voltaje and same frequency, 5.2 @ 1.37v)

What timings are you using on the Royals?
I have the Trident Z RGB version of the 4000's but have not yet attempted to OC them. So still running XMP 19.

I am running them at 17-17-17-37-320-2T. They are stable with 1.47V DIMM. I did run them at 4500MHz unstable at 17 for a day. These running at XMP values were very avg for 4000MHZ and that was with the CPU at 5.2 and 5.3G.

I can run my CPU at 5.2 ~1.28-1.29V and am looking for the most efficient way to do so. Can I use adaptive with target voltage set to "auto" and just offset it with -25 or -30mV or better not? Something like this: https://i.imgur.com/MPpQuOb.png

Awesome thread with lots of great info.

Looking to build correct from the start and after reading your input, planning to purchase 1t b-die for tightest timings. I am super torn on which RAM to start with OCing on for the Z390 Dark with the i9-9900K. My plan is to go with the 8GBx2 3200Mhz Team Group T-Force Night Hawk RGB TF7D416G3200HC14ADC01 14-14-14-31. I'm super noob and new to this, but am doing my best with the literal 0 knowledge that I have. If anyone has suggestions or comments, please let me know. Upon installation/OC, I do plan to post before/after results here. P.S. Money is not an issue, I just want the very best to OC and get the best freq. possible with the tightest timings on 1t b-die (unless I have bad info and something else would be better)?

Did you saw OC Frame on EVGA Z390 Dark and crazy beautifull Heatkiller IV PRO full black for Intel...

I mean... reinstallation of IHS was always stupidest part for me in whole process.
I believe improperly re-installed IHS is reason because some people didn't had so good temps as others.
OC Frame is much better or CPU Guard depend who produce them.
I think that should be among motherboard accessories for every model above 400$.

Trying to get my hands on a Heatkiller IV Pro Nickel block.

I want to go direct die, probably get the RockitCool kit.
