I just wanted to pick the brains of other SC15 owners and see what their CPU temps were. When playing demanding games like total war warhammer or xcom 2 the CPU is hitting 91-92C. I know 100 is max before problems start but this seems pretty high. GPU never seems to go over 80C. Would love to hear from other SC15 owners about temps or any other topic as there aren't very many of us and even less message board space out there.

Seems that peaking out at 80c to 100c is the range many experience without making any adjustments. Undervolting the CPU should be an easy adjustment to cool it down. Replacing the thermal paste is another option which may make it better (or worse!) and is not recommended because it would required taking the laptop almost completely apart.

Thanks, I have seen those threads the top one in particular seems like someone looking for a refund. I dont mind the temps if there is no long term damage as the laptop itself is still fairly cool to the touch and yeah I dont want to rip apart the laptop for paste. I was more or less curious if others had those temps or just me.

No just a custom curve. They are probably around 80%

I run an SC17 and those temps are ~5C hotter than mine when it was stock at full fan speed during game loads. For reference, I switched from the original paste to Panasonic PGS and dropped ~4C, then switched to liquid metal and dropped another 6C. There are better TIMs than what the laptops shipped with. Considering the increased amount of work you would have to do compared to the SC17, I recommend you apply the best of whatever TIM type you are comfortable with. Liquid metal is amazing but also needs special consideration, Panasonic PGS(IC Graphite) or good paste likely will drop your temps ~4C. If you have any thermal tape(tape form of the pads found on memory chips) you can cover the heat pipes and probably get another ~2C. Under game load I would not expect any of the configurations to be better than ~77C.

Thanks solid answer. Looks like a bit of trouble to re paste so thinking I'll ride it out for now and keep an eye on it. Guess it's time to truly test intels claim of 100C 😉. On another note I do enjoy this laptop and it runs demanding games very well.

Watch the temps. Whenever they start climbing unduly and it's time to ultimately clean the computer. Replace the TIM with the best you can get your hands on and it will serve you well.

That price is amazing? Fans are that quiet? Reviews look good, I think I'll have to grab one, thanks.

I disabled turbo boost for my cpu in the bios. Temps went way down as expected. I dont see much of a fps hit either.
