love the sound card but it is messing with my video card no matter which pci-e slot I use probably need a 44 lane cpu like 9940x hate to pay that much if something new is around the corner x299 is getting older my 7820x is still awesome cpu but I need more lanes what would you guys do?
I obviously can't use them together in this setup dark x299 - 7820x -64gig ram -2tb m2 drive -1080ti kingpin I didn't do enough research when I bought the 7820x I thought it was top it wasn't even middle would appreciate any advice to buy 9940x or wait for new platform?

Now you know why I decided to go to Threadripper. 64 PCI-E lanes.

with 64 lanes wouldn't have to worry about what ever you put on the motherboard hhmmm.

What do you mean by it messing with your video card?  There are enough lanes to go around that it shouldn't drop your card below x16.  For example, PE4 and PE5 should be fine.  Depending on which M.2 slot you're using, PE6 might be available as well.

nah p6 wouldn't work I think e6 and e3 has to have 44 lanes to activate I read some were, it's causing my games to drop in the middle of game play if I turn my computer off the screen won't come back on till I remove sound card if you can guide me to something else I would be greatful.
oh and got my m.2 in upper slot above fan

For a 28-lane processor, this is the breakdown:

As long as you have your graphics card in PE1, then you have PE4, PE5, and PE6 (if you disable the 80mm M.2 slot, PM2, in the BIOS) to use the card without dropping performance.

Whichever slot you end up putting the Audio Card in, try setting that to Gen 2, rather than auto.

What sample rate are you using while gaming?

The last issue of black screen on a cold boot is new to me.  Maybe moving the slot/reseating the card will fix that.

should I try different rates to see if drops or a certain one?

For games, I generally don't go beyond 24-bit, 48,000Hz, since many games won't even give you audio if you go beyond that.  96,000Hz at the max, maybe.  Some games might be able to go higher, but the interaction with Windows could cause the audio to cut out or the game to even fail to launch.  Games are typically designed with 16-bit, 48,000Hz at the max, so you won't really miss anything if you leave it there.  The only limitation is the point where the game/OS DSP eventually can't handle the bit-depth/sampling rate selected.

It's not really a NU Audio Card thing, because games are still going to rely on DSP through Windows before getting to the audio card, and games don't use ASIO to bypass it.

Bit-rate/sampling rate shouldn't have any effect on your boot issue, however.

yeah it's still crashing tried several bit rates not 16bit 48000 though I also got it in e-6 now works fine there except for games crashing after 10mins.
    tried 16bit-48000 still crashing,
believe I have all other audio disabled not sure what is causing this but gonna have to take it out to be able to game.

If you switch back to onboard audio, do the crashes still happen?

I didn't think the NU Audio Card was causing it, but thanks for verifying that.  Saves us the trouble of going down the wrong path.  Now we just need to get your system squared away, and then proceed to get the NU Audio Card dialed in.
