Back from the dead (RIP) it has a new lease on life with an SSD on Windows 10 64bit and one them free XFX RX 570 RS 4Gb AMD gives away .. A1 product bought new March 2010 and I am impress for it not to be overclocked pushing 100% usage.

The X58 is one of Intel's best chipsets in my opinion. So long as it meets your needs continue to use it. 

I have a few gen 1 Ryzen platforms and 1400 I really like it paired with a RX 570 .. as to show how good the x58 is I matched the clocks as both at 3200Mhz and it is the very same video card tested . 
 
RJ it is nice to have it running again and maybe Eyefinity I Racing Sims again someday as that x 58 board as been around Daytona a lot lol.

I have to X58 motherboards. One is still my main PC with a 980SC. They both have i7-920s, the one I use daily's been OC'd to 3.5Ghz for 9 years now.
 
I'd like to get the other to 4Ghz with a new processor. Is that easiest with an i7-980X? Anyone have experience? Thanks!

There is no Problem hitting the 4 GHz with Hyperthreading, it took a time to get the 6 modules G.Skill triple channel ( F3-12800CL9-4GBRL ) stable at 800 MHz. Lots of BS or BSOD.

I got 12Gb of New Corsair triple channel 1600Mhz coming as to see how memory size holds me back as since new my board has only had 6Gb so I may just run all sticks for 18Gb if I keep my triple channel .  also have the water blocks for my board (never installed) but I did kind win the lottery as my 
 
That's not the EVGA X58 SLI (132-BL-E758-A1)  is drop in support = Rev 1.2  = was it a rare board ? 
 
I been moving games to a Seagate passport stream folder and have RD 2 and Wolfenstein II in coming.. but here is Strange Brigade in DX 12  with CX 570's  with the old Xeon .. as 1080p Ultra was 161fps in the benchmark .

That was period when hardware look nicer than now.
Maybe Graphic cards are nicer now from EVGA than in past, but motherboards are terrible.
I can't estimate motherboard with all RGB on advertising pictures, I don't know what I got when I turn them off. 
 
It would be nice to someone finish benchmark of GTX1080Ti example on X58 and X79 and now Z390 system example.
But only games, fps.
 
35 euro is X5650 Xeon in my town, but X5690 cost 100 euro.
They are similar after OC???
How they work in Windows 10 x64 bit.

THIS IS CLEAR EVIDENCE THAT X58 PLATFORM WITH 6C/12T 12MB+ Cache are still useful for gaming.
Only problem is if someone have 6GB, that's limitation, but with 12GB situation is perfectly fine.
Strong evidence that people with less budget could use high end graphic cards and delay upgrade platform before they really need. 
Special on 1080p 60 fps.
 
 

For 1080p sure but don't think anything higher than that. 
 
My i7 5930K is struggling a bit with BFV me thinks unless it's something else.

BFV need good cpu i am at 95-98% with that game on 2560x1080 ultra high.

I'm at around 80%-90%.  Do you also get some 0% GPU spikes and stutters during gameplay?
